Now that we have LFS patch Z is it at all possible to show the other information that was not available before, like tyre temp etc?

Quote from peterules :Anyone Thought of the Champcar yet? It would be a good idea to have a turbocharged open wheeler! it would open up a whole new feel to some of the more open trackslike KY & WE! Also, It might make a good oval car as the F08 and BF1 are getting slightly boring... Here are some stats:

Displacement - 161 cubic inches, 2.64 liters
Cylinders - V-8
Weight - 325 pounds (148 kilograms)
Horsepower - Approximately 900 hp
Maximum rpm - 15,000
Aspiration - Turbocharged
Valves - Four per cylinder
Cams - Dual camshafts per cylinder bank
Fuel delivery - Fuel injection

Just sounds like fun to me - i also enjoyed the rFactor mod too but it would be a lot better in LFS

Are they realy that light (148KG) or is that just for the engine on its own?

Something i think which would be fun is something similar to that of the Lotus Elise/Exige or Vauxhall/Opel Vx220,

It could be loosley based (performance wise) on the LX4 only with the option of road legal part slick or full race slicks.

Would be a great handling car and would look like a proper racer...

spec something like

140 - 180bhp n/a or Turbo or even both (2 separate cars)
Circa 600-800kgs
Rear wheel drive
Mid Engine possibly

I know we have the RAC which is a real car but lets face it a Lotus would be better handling car, it certainly give it some more variety and would probably have an appeal to everyone worldwide rather than some of the more specific cars like dragster and wrc cars some people have mentioned.

Quote from johnfromsunnymull :Hello.

I am struggling to connect to the master server to login to S2.

I have read so many other topics but they are just confusing me.

I have tried the two tests i could do and my results are in http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=29454&page=6

The other thing that i don't understand is im hearing i have to open certain ports, etc...

Can anyone give me more detail on what i need to do?

It has been way over 8 months now since i played and i came back to this :nol2:lol

Thanks
John

I assume you fixed the problem as at the time of writing i see you are racing online!!!

I am not 100% on this but i think LFS is coded so that the tyre physics change depending on the circuit and layout, something to do with simulating the road surface so some tracks will have less/more grip through certain corners on different tracks???

i am sure one of the devs can advise on this?

Can you tell me the router you are using now?

and, Have you tried using the port at 29339?

or make a list like this in your Router Port Forwarding section.
  • TCP: 29339
  • UDP: 29339
  • TCP: 63392
  • UDP: 63392
quote]

i have cured the problem, and the issue was this: as i was running 2 pc's i had set the ports to be forwarded on to the same values on both devices on my router. after looking on the net and researching networking in a bit more detail i noticed that ports can only communicate to one device at a time and i had to rules forwarded both sets of ports to both PC's this was causing a conflict so this what i did to rectify the problem:

PC1 - the main pc which i use to play lfs now has a rule to forward only port ranges 63392 to 63392 TCP/UDP and it can communicate to LFS on this port and the router directs all traffic to PC1

PC2- The pc which runs the dedi server and dedigui now has a rule to forward only port ranges 29339 to 29339 TCP

and that solves all the problems i was having i justed deleted the old port mappings and set up the ranges individually for each device and assigned the ranges to each machine and now it works like a dream.....??

only thing is now i do not know how to log in as admin so i can control commands whilst connected to the host as admin.

Thanks to all for your help it is most appreciated.

OK GUYS I HAVE DONE IT.

for the records i have checked the portforward site god only knows how many times and the way i had forwarded the ports was fine.

Heres how i did it:

as above i told you how i had to set up 2 lots of fowarding rules on the router well turns out you cant do that, as the laws of networking say one port can only send traffic to one internal IP address at a time whereas i was trying to send them to 2 internal ip address' and they were conflicting so what i did is this:

PC1 - now has one rule and communicates to lfs on 63392
PC2 - now has one rule and communicates to lfs on 29339

so now each pc communicates to lfs on its own port and it all works perfect, i can see it on the multiplayer list on pc1 ans connect via the internet. so all is good.

Thanks to everyone who offered there help on this i really appreciate it.

RIGHT, I have started to lose pateince with all this so i decided to research networking in a bit more detail, in doing so i think i may have stumbled across a possible problem!!

My set up is like this

INTERNET
-
-
BTHOMEHUB ROUTER
- -
- -
- -
PC 1 PC 2

PC 1 IS WHAT I USE TO PLAY LFS ONLINE

PC 2 IS WHERE THE DEDI SERVER RUNS FROM

Now what i have done is set 2 port forward rules in my router one for each of the pc's as they both need to talk to the lfs server etc, but reading online it mentions that only one port can talk to one internal IP address at a time........Does this mean that they are now conflicting as i have assigned the same ports to 2 internal IP address'??

Now something i am not sure of is do i have to forward ports for both apps i.e LFS S2 to play online and the LFS DEDI?? If so i am screwed beacuse my router will only allow 1 entry of ports maps to be assigned for each device.

for example:
PC1 has an internal ip address on the LAN and the router is set up to forward the ports 63392 and 29339 to it and i call this rule LFS PORT FORWARD, when i go to PC2 on the router i cannot assign the same rule as it is being used by PC1....this is why i set up 2 port rules with the same ports so i can assign the same ports to each pc...but as i found out this seems to be causing a conflict??

Now do i just forward the ports on PC1 so i can join online host and play online, or can i play online without forwarding ports for PC1.

OR

Do i just forward ports for PC2 so that the dedi server can be seen online?

Also regarding IP address in the dediGUi is it my external IP address for my router that i enter in that box or is it the internal IP of the device which is running the host on my LAN??? i ask this as i propose to run static IP address on my LAN to avoid any possible conflicts in IP addys (i have researched this in more detail so i can set it up properly now)

Thanks

I tried it using the lower port number and i changed the cofig files to relfect the same lower port number, and i still could not see it in my multiplayer list on the main pc, however the server is now visible on LFSW in the online host listing (using 29339), so i thought i would change it back to the original port which was 63392 and with this port selected it can still be seen in the LFSW host list but not online and still couldnt connect via internet?????

so with this i can summise that the port number is not the main issue here as it can be seen in LFSW when using both 29339 and 63992 but i cannot connect to the server using the multiplayer selection screen whilst using either of the port ranges.

so as BLADERUNNER says it may just be one of those things with this particular router???

Can someone attempt to connect to the server from their machine as if that works i am happy? the server name is now

REDMIST RACING 1

its in the list look below?

Not sure what DMZ is to be honest? My router is a BTHOMEHUB as per the screen shot above showing the open ports for LFS.

Can someone just try to connect to the server from the internet and see if the name appears in the multiplayer host list???

Server name is: REDMIST RACING 1

here is what i did in Motorola Port Forwarding.

And following the answer in the LFS FAQ...
http://www.lfs.net/?page=faq&id=13

I want to run a host from behi ... ch port needs to be open?
"Answer to: I want to run a host from behind a firewall, router or connection sharing - which port needs to be open?: Live for Speed S2 hosts use TCP and UDP port 63392 by default, but when starting a host, you can enter any port (but be advised that some people only have the default ports open with their outbound blocking firewall). Some people have problems with high port numbers. They should try lower numbers, as some ISP's are blocking high ranges.
If your firewall or router also blocks outgoing packets, you should open port 29339 as well, which is used for host<->master communication. "

In my experienced, I tried using the TCP and UDP port 63392 as default before and it runs ok in LAN but in Internet LFS Master Server I also can't see my running host. So i use 29339... and tada! its on the list now...

i have already done the above, i have set up 2 of the same just with differnent names for both pc's ther dedi server and the desktop i use to play on and they are all as per the portforwarding website from earlier
http://i216.photobucket.com/al ... 09/justingt5/PORTSPIC.jpg

i will try using the other port but i cant see that it will make a difference.

my server is running so see if you can connect to it, as it is now showing the LFS world/Desktop on the online server list??
proof that it is online see screenshot from LFSW:

the server name is: REDMIST RACING 1
see if you can connect?

Quote from Deejayyaj :Are you running a host using a router?

did you use the instruction in the Port Forwarding--> By default the ip address should be set to 192.168.1.1."
as indicated in the Port Forwarding instruction.?

You can take a look at this post for Port Forwarding in router connection.

Now if you're having problem with the Dedicated Config.
just simply use the text editor to edit the configurations.

here is my simple config for routed connection:

make sure to use a "Alternative IP Setting"
(see photo image attached below)
To set this,
  1. 1) go to your connection setting click on your LAN Connection.
  2. property your TCP/IP and type in the config in "Alternate IP Configuration"
  3. Allow firewall blocking if it is ask.
Also a helpful tips by (the_angry_angel):

Thats it, you are good to go if its all done.

Good luck

If you're still having a problem? just PM me and ill still try to help you.

Tried all of that and still the same issue, i can connect on the LAN but not the on the multiplayer screen in LFS.

I tried allocating a specific IP as you suggested but when i did this i could not connect to the master server in LFS on main PC and also Server DEDIGUI had an error message "could not resolve address"??

Can you have a look if the server : RedMistRacing 1 appears in the online server lists???? i cannot see it through the multiplayer screen???

Quote from Bladerunner :The problem he seems to be having is not quite as simple.
As I understand it, people can connect to his server from outside...which is OK and normal.
He can connect to his own server via LAN..this is also OK and normal...
What he CANNOT do is connect to his own server via the internet (using LFS Connect for example)..This is NOT OK, but due to the limitations of certain routers is a necessary evil.
As I said before, SOME routers allow you to reconfigure the loopback settings, and some don't..

I seem to have ALL my ports correctly configured..I am running 4 game servers from a spare PC...2*LFS, 1*Call of Duty 4, and 1*Neverwinter Nights; I have 6 computers currently using my network (4*Hardwired PC's and 2*Wireless laptops)..
On top of that I am running a website, a forum, a mailserver...oh..and finally a Teamspeak server.

The fact that ALL that is running correctly must hint at the fact that I know a little bit about networking

you got it about spot on the only thing is i cannot see my server listed in the host list in LFS either, or is this related to the above also. I could do with someone checking it out????

server is: RedMistRacing 1 (not sure if case sensitive but this is how i typed it)

i will leave it running to see if anyone can connect?

Hi,

i have installed the DEDGUI on a 2nd pc at home and i have followed both your post above and the wiki, i have forwarded the ports 63392 and 29339 as described on my bt homehub and have no problems connecting to online servers etc, i have also allowed these ports on windows firewall on both pc's for testing i turned off the virus protection on the main pc that use to play LFS and 2nd (dedi server) pc doesnt have any installed as it on a fresh install of xp professional.

The problem i have is that i can connect to the server via a LAN connection but as soon as i try to connect using LFS over the internet, it just says CLIENT CONNECT: TIMED OUT or CLIENT CONNECT: CONNECT FAILED.

I have gone through lots and lots of posts where people have had this same issue and tried out the things which corrected their problem but still no joy??? i need help on this?

i have set up another topic but not had much success with the reponses?
http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=884967#post884967

Can you possibly help with this? I have MSN and SKYPE where a verbal session may be more of a benefit than the posting on the forum.

Quote from Hotdogxx60 :Ditto, I'm getting the same issue although I'm on a vista laptop. I can ping and trace with no problems, server set up on my router. I was able to connect for a short time until I change a setting for tracks in DEDIGUI and now the same thing as 'justingt5'. So it did work at some stange and all I did was change Blackwood to SO1. I'll restart from scratch again today but I'll be interested in the responses for 'justingt5'.

Success.
Had to close windows firewall, even though it had the setting to allow. Unless I missed something, Vista and its security is a pain in the prostate.

i closed down all firewall software on both the main PC i use for racing on and the pc with the dedi host running on, at one point i tried with the router firewall off completely and still could not connect, i just get the same error "CLIENT CONNECT: TIMED OUT".

started to lose interest in trying now as i have tried everything that i have seen on here and in the wiki manual!!!! i cant beleive with all virus and firewall software and router firewall turned off it still cant connect???? its bizarre. I am not exactly a noob with computing and i understand port forwarding etc pretty well i and know i have followed all instructions to the letter and still no good?

i can connect to the server on the LAN but not online...... Please help me someone????? I have MSN and SKYPE if someone can help me out verbally rather than on a million posts on the forum?

Thanks

I need help,

i have now spent 4hrs looking at old posts and i have tried all if what i could see and i still cannot connect to my dedi server which i have set up.

i have forwarded TCP 63392 UDP 63392 and also TCP 29339 on my BT home hub and on windows firewall so they are all good.

i used to host using the full client before patch z and all was ok, i decided to go dedi so i could leave it running all the time,

i set it up on a separate pc which i control remotely.

I can connect to the server locally LAN as it outlines in the how to guides, it says if you can connect on LAN try internet if that does not work forward above ports.......All the ports are forwarded correctly

i have uninstalled and re-installed 3 times still doesnt work.

i am not amazing with command lines of cfg so i used the DEDIGUI (crazyice) console to control the server and it sets it all up perfect but cannot connect through the internet only on LAN (i can connect to other servers no problems)

can someone please help i have tried everything i know.

this guy should look for the analogue guage pack that is around as you can modify the size and location of the shift in the CFG file.

not sure if you can change the range in which it is activated though!!
