You are funny hughesie89...
your sig: Are you looking for an Australian Server? I fail to see how it is Australian if its on the other side of the world in GB..
You can joke all you want but the fact is that LFS is not gonna get accepted by larger sim audience and car/race enthusiasts without some great and famous real tracks and cars...and with such great physics that it has it would be a shame
Maybe someone could ask him what does he likes/dislikes about rfactor/lfs but I think huge + for rfactor would be real tracks as he can prepare for real events..
Yeah better sounds could add a lot to the experience..
For example drifting in LFS looks so relaxed and smooth compared to http://youtube.com/watch?v=Kjaxez9OIX8
Of course not but if it can improve the feel than it is good..
Humans should not adapt to a "speed presentation". It should be the other way around..if you get what I mean..When you record yourself with a camera doing 100kmph in a car and then watch it, it looks slower than you remember it - like in LFS, so im saying that LFS should try to somehow create an illusion of speed to the player instead of producing camera like image..
@TAYLOR-MANIA
When you are driving for real your vision doesnt blur, maybe if it blurred the sides of a screen or when exposed to many G-forces blurred the screen...
Motion blur doesnt increase sense of speed, it even reduces it and it feels like you are sleeping..
Juls idea is very good and it would be great if devs or somebody else made that possible..
It may not look like inboard video from a real car but lfs is a game made for humans and it needs to create an illusion of going fast..
Most people that are saying that sense of speed is good would shit their pants if a GT driver took them round a track in a real car..
Very interesting
Could that be done with d3dx8.dll/d3dx9.dll thing so it is usable in other games also?
Speed sense is very important in racing games and anyone who tries sims for the first time doesn't feel the speed and give up because car feels uncontrollable
OK, I was playing with the LFSLapper source today and got it to work in singleplayer/hotlapping and than I added loading of best splits when you start a track so when you drive you see it compared to your best time instead of starting from beginning, and then when new PB shows it also says by how much the PB is improved and stuff like that...
It works but it is a hacked solution and loading of best splits is hardcoded to my name..
I got what I needed
Everything works except when you close it your pb times are gone...and the file where I think it should save pb-s says:

OK.
I tried commenting out server password in cfg and setting the password to nothing but it still doesnt work.. I dont know if it worked before because im new..
Yes I tried LFSlapper too but I dont know how to use it for single player/hotlaps but it works when I create a server but then I can play against only 2 or 3 AI so it isnt good like that either..
Is there something that can save your best splits/times for track/car for hotlapping and single player and show them in game?
I mean something like LFSLapper but on client side
How is AI modeled in LFS?
Is it a neural network with back propagation if a lap is better than previous, or genetic algorithm which saves data for best laps and discards bad laps and in the next lap mixes data from 2 laps to try to make a better line
Im really interested in how do they learn?
Why do you think that handbrake is somehow disconnected from the physics engine..
It just tells the engine to engage rear breaks on the car, the tires quickly lock because they lose grip and car inertia keeps it going and and it slides to much at that slow speed..
I was doing some tests with the gti car and if you go 20kmph and pull the handbrake the car goes much longer than my real life similar car..
And I was watching some videos of lfs gtr cars and they seem to slide to much, I mean people sliding them trough every corner and I never see that in reality and it is pretty hard for real life drivers to recover them from a slide.
Wtcc cars seem easier to control in a slide but fia gt seem harder
