Thanks for that lot. It's going to take me a while to wade through it all.
My plan was to have a python app on the PC receive the outgauge data from LFS and then have the arduino poll it, asking for the latest whenever it can.
I've just picked up a mega 2560 and a 128x64 graphical LCD panel that I'm hoping to use along side (or instead of) my Bodnar SLI-M. I have a few ideas on how I would implement this thing, but I'd be keen to see how you've done it.
How timely for my G25 to start showing signs of dying. Loss of calibration and what looked like USB resets hit me last night during a race - very worrying.
Maybe some sort of sprung vertical slot could be clipped or slotted over the G27's shifter to provide a sequential mode, without compromising the internals. It would need enough throw to register a gear up/down and enough spring to disengage the gear lever and put it back in neutral.
There you go, Logitech. Send the royalties and a G27 to my place.
It would be a shame to lose the sequential stick in preference to the gimmicky flappy paddles, IMO.
Is the problem with all driving setups? Maybe you have just have a setup with light steering (lots of toe-in?). get in a car with big front tyres and put your foot on the brake.. you should have a bit of resistance - especially if you're not moving.
Maybe bump up your in-game FF to 50 or 60%. 20 seems a bit light to me.
You can also download a free demo of games like GRID, or an NFS variant. I'd only be concerned for your G25 if the problem persisted across multiple games.
Here's a link to my effort done in Ubuntu 8.04 (Blender 2.45) with the v2 kit. I had to do it with one thread and one tile only as when I had multiple threads the brightness of neighbouring areas in the picture would sometimes vary. The 1280x1024 took 3.5hrs. I also enable the AO option to cut down some noise in the white text.
It looks to me that there may be an error with the 3D model. The rear wing uprights look to be slightly detached from the back of the car. I can't navigate around in blender well enough to check.
