No, the motor itself doesn't have any information. But what i know after searching and looking in internet is that the motor is a "Johnson Electric HC685LG-011".
I know that the coil winding and the carbon brush can be repaired, but will be so reliable as the original? Another thing is the axle bearing, looks like damaged or worn-out (i said good?) because the axle has to much friction. I don't know if the axle bearing can be replaced, you know is too small 1/8 inch.
Anyway i'm trying to open the motor and find out exactly what is wrong. Maybe the axle bearing just needs a deep clean and a drop of oil, but at same time i'll keep searching for another motor.
Some time ago i wrote to logitech asking if they could send one motor to me. The answer was that they don't send parts. They send another wheel in case of warranty, but they don't send parts or in this case motors.
There is no Logitech technical assistance here in Chile, so my only way to repair the G25 is by myself.
I believe that there is a difference between a DFP and a G25 motor.
The first difference is the spin ratio between the motor and the wheel. In a DFP the ratio is 35:1 same in a MOMO. In a G25 the ratio is 16:1. But that can be solved adjusting a gear ratio.
I don't know if they works with the same voltage. And maybe the torque and the RPM aren't the same, but i got nothing to lose if i try.
I will really apreciate, if you can (and want xD), send to me that motor. I believe that it can be fitted to the G25.
Yes, i know thats is hard to find someone that could sell a motor, but i have read about people that smash their G25 (by logitech orders for the warranty deal).
Maybe some of them still has parts of the wheel and maybe the motor, or someone has a broken G25 and wants to sell it.
I don't know, but hope is the last thing to lost
No, is not the same. There is something called "cogging" efect it's like non-current torque. If you spin an generic electric motor with your fingers, you will feel that the motor goes in steps. So if you put a rc motor in the G25, the wheel will feel "shaky". In a low cogging motor like G25 uses, you don't feel that's steps and that's makes smooth turns in the wheel.
The story is pretty short.
In a endurance race my G25 started to smell weird, and suddenly the FFB lost power. Sadly, my wheel is out of warranty so i just opened it and discovered that the right motor was completely burned. The left motor has the optical encoder and works fine.
So if anyone of you has a extra G25 motor, I'll be very pleased to buy it.
Best Regards from Chile
C'ya!
I've been searching FF motors for my G25 for months and i can't find one new to buy yet. This happens becouse the FF motors are very specials. They have very low "detent" or "cogging" efect (just try to spin a simple electric motor with your fingers and you will feel that the motor goes in "steps" that's the "cogging" effect and that's affects your FF experience)
I wrote to Jhonsson Electric about acquire new motors for my G25, and they said:
"Dear Sir,
Thank you for visiting our website and inquiring about the availability of one of our products. All of Johnson Electric’s products are custom designed to match the specific requirements of our customers. The final product or model of our customer is in many cases unknown to us, since major global companies utilize the same component across different brands. Unfortunately, since these custom components are made to order, Johnson Electric does not hold inventory for replacement parts.
Johnson Electric manufactures these components in very high quantities for hundreds of global brands, who manage their own warranty programs independently. Our website is designed to feature standard platforms that could be modified to suit an equipment makers performance requirements, the website is not configured for online sales. Johnson Electric also has a distribution network that carries some of the more commonly used items. This distribution channel is also focused on the industrial segment and serves lower volume equipment makers. You may want to check with one of the distributors in your area regarding availability of the part you are looking for. "
Finally, the only way is buy a used motor from a old or broken DFP, or in my case from a G25.
So, if anybody has an extra G25 motor, i'll be pleased to buy it
I was losing my hopes to find one for my G25.
Well, i just need one. It was the left motor that have failed, smells like burned and dosn't work. So, how can i send you the money? and the thanks? xD
