I saw the launch at work - we have a big TV in the lobby and I was able to get the receptionist to turn it to CNN. I'm a huge fan of NASA (one of the coolest things I've done was visit KSC) - I watch all the launches, follow the missions, watch the landings. I'm a geek, I know.

Can't wait for the next one! I *WILL* make it down there to see one in person before the shuttles are retired. Might even be able to catch one this year!

Ah yes, warranty...looks like I'll take it in for repairs instead until the 1-year warranty is up, then I'll do my own repairs. I never considered the PSU - it is 400w so might that be an issue running an 8500GT, Core2Quad system? I somehow doubt that gateway will upgrade the PSU *if* that is the problem.

Looking at my current core temps, 41, 32, 40, 32. They are all being used quite a bit, with core3 pretty much maxed out constantly. Idle usage overall is averaging about 30%. Sheesh. Is it possible there is a virus or something messing with my system?

It was a purchased system from Gateway. I will check the paste - since it is a mass produced system, it sounds like the paste may be sub-par. Thanks again.

Windows Vista, Quad Core CPU, nvidia 8500GT, Gateway

Constantly! It'll run for about 15 minutes, then a fan will kick into high gear and then my computer will reboot a few seconds later. This happens even if it's just sitting there with no games running or anything.

When LFS is running, it'll happen but it won't reboot fully. I'll get a black screen, and if I press alt-tab it'll go back to the windows desktop and say LFS has encountered a failure.

The interior is very clean as the computer is fairly new. No buildup of dust yet anywhere.

Advice?

Does anyone know what kind of AC Adapter this wheel gets? I want to get FF going, but I lost the power cord a long time ago. Thanks!

Just about to wrap up my first season. Two drivers, 1st and 2nd place in the league (Div 32 if you want to check, team CarbonStar). My team is #1 at 44 pts, 2nd place has 24 so I have the win for the season even if I don't get any points next race, but I will since my drivers get 1st and 2nd every race.

What awards are there for team/drivers getting 1st place/2nd place in the final standings?

I am pretty much a newb to LFS, so ignore my start date of 2003. I played for a bit and then stopped, and have recently started again.

I'm a huge fan of F1, and want to start a small team. My intent is to have a few *mature* guys/gals to race with, have fun, and talk about F1. Here's a list of the basic team info I'm shooting for:

Car: BF1 only

Requirements to join: 18-years old minimum, younger ages are accepted if you talk to me and you come across as a mature human being and don't talk like "ur momma is fat." You get the point. Beginners are accepted (since I am beginner, can't have a double-standard!) as long as you don't drive like a maniac and have at least a few laps in the BF1, so you know what you are getting yourself into. Also, since I want to have a few friends to talk F1 with, you must enjoy F1 and be somewhat knowledgeable - I won't quiz you or anything, but I expect that you watch as many races as you can and follow F1 news on an occasional basis.

I want to get involved in leagues in the future - I understand and respect the fact it could be a year before I'm good enough to even think about that, and that's ok. If you are already really good and up to league standards, that's great. We'll get you going in a league if you aren't already. Having someone that good would be awesome - you can train me.

Someone who can paint cars would be a bonus - I'd like to have our own team livery. Or maybe you know someone who can and will paint a car for us. Just as good.

So that's about it - I just want to have fun, have a server we can hang out on whenever, talk F1, and improve our skills in the BF1.

I live on the east cost of the US, so I'm -4 GMT, -5 starting Nov 4th. There are no requirements for where you live, but I'm providing that information to help you decide because if you're 12 hours off my time, it might be difficult to arrange times to train/race!

I hope to see some interest, I only want 4 members including myself. So only 3 spots left!

Oh, and no fancy website...heck, no website at all (yet?). I have no skill in making them, but I guess I wouldn't mind trying if I had some help. For now I just planned on communicating via e-mail/PMs.

Awesome! Keep it up! I set (and beat) my PB at Blackwood with the FOX last night several times. Just 5 seconds off the leaders in the race now, and I'm using the default setup. Will try some better setups from Gentlefoot today when I get home, but I know most of that 5 seconds will be knocked off by improving my turn entry points and exits.

Thanks for making these sets available. To a newb like me, I'll use them to build up my racing skills to a point where I can tinker with the setups on my own and actually tell if it's making a difference, as opposed to a different driving habit making its appearance. Can't wait to get home and try them out!

You need to get the latest version of LFS - if you look at the top, there are 26 servers that have a more recent version than you.

Well, I'm done with LFS for the day. Tried 7 different demo servers in an attempt at finding a decent race...all 7 had morons going the wrong way. I give up.

Jakg - thanks for the compliment! I hope to get involved in some of the better leagues out there - I know a bit about racing so I already know (and have proven in my short time on LFS) how to handle a blue flag situation, T1 (I do fine with it, have no issues looking around and keeping my line to avoid screwing anyone else up), etc. It's not difficult, and my theory on why there's so much trouble with it is that people are stupid and don't care.

I just need to get used the S2 cars and get decent track times, then I'll start joining some leagues. Hope to see you out there - any servers you frequent or recommend?
