Three great decision by the devs! Number One: limited setup - just makes a lot of sense in a real road car. Number two: postpone it, because its not ready, thats the only way to go. Number three: To TELL us about it!!! Thats the only critisizm i can make during my time with lfs, which is several years. The information policy about ongoing development has been a weak point. Sometimes i thought lfs was dead. Now we have some information, we know what is to come, where the problems are... And sure as sh*t, people are whining. Now i see, why the devs usually kept quiet. I am sorry to see that and i hope that the devs keep us informed in the future, despite some of the reactions here. Thx.
Also thx to bramski for the video-link - awesome interview.
Thx to the devs for the hard work, but i think we all learned something today: Don't follow the test patches, because if you do, the next "real" patch will not live up to the expectations. And that is a litttle bit like christmas as a child, when you found all your presents a few weeks before and now there is nothing new on christmas eve. But of course, that is my own fault, not the fault of the hard working devs who improve this simulation constantly.
I agree with the people who posted before me. It was a fun (LONG) race with fair racing all around. But its easy to drive fair with only six people on track for most of the time.
We admit, that Maishaupt resettet his car after an incident in the first corner. We where not aware that this was against the rules and we are sorry for that. I roled over once at around lap 30 but i landet on the wheels and was able to continue.
For future races i would sugest to allow reset and/or Shift+S. If you even change the race format to have more people on track it doesn't make much sense to punish every mistake. As we saw, people will not drive more careful anyways. A lot of crashes happened in the first fifteen minutes. But thats just my opinion... :-) I hope to see you guys sometime in the future for another race!
Hi, my teammate (p.maishaupt) an me (Der_Dude) are thinking about joining your race. Therefore we have a question: You say the qualifying starts at 4pm GMT. My LFS shows me UTC, which might not be the same right now. To make things more complicated the State of the USA i live in (Nem Mexico) starts Daylight-savings time this weekend. Anyways, please confirm a scheduled qualifying time in reference to the UTC time of LFS. Then we can make a decision whether to enter the race or not. Thanx in advance!
We would prefer the three hour race with driver change, just becaus we haven't done that yet. If you decide to race only two hours we probably would run seperatly.
You should have let me pass BEFORE the chicane since you where dangerously slow in there. After i managed to drive beside you on straight, you even crashed sideways into my car instead of letting me pass you! Thats not how you treat the leader! But you are right in one thing, it was the second to last lap...
I watched the replay now, and i admit that you saw the blue flag for me very late, since you have been lapped by someone else just before i arrived. You had enough time to let me go before the chicane though... And there was no reason to stay besides me on the straight. I was in front. The whole thing cost me 3.5sec which you can see by my laptime. Anyway, these things happen when people with very different speeds drive. I started slow in LFS too, so i remember that this is not easy. I apologize for the things i wrote after the finish. I still think it was your fault, but it was not intentionally. So i had bad luck and thats about it.
I drove a conservative R3 Set which worked out pretty nicely. After your first two laps i didnt think about winning anymore. But then you slowed down and i tried to pass you as soon as possible to make up some ground since you said before that you will become faster in the end. After our Pitstops (we both kept the tires) i was always checking the gap and calculating if it would be enough. You where the faster driver, no doubt! I figured i would end the race with two or three seconds in front. I was trying to be consistant and dont make mistakes which i managed to do. The rest is history...
I live in the united states, so due to time difference it was a last minute change for me.
But anyways, it was a very exciting race for the complete distance. It was very difficult to lap some of the people and that last lap incident was ridiculous and i think it was intentionally, since the guy drove into me on the straight, after i was already in front. It is sad to get a win stolen. But "The End" drove a great race and he had a little bit more luck so he earned that victory as much as i would have done!
Guys, thats realy bad organisation. You change the rules a few hours before the race. Everyone practiced for that race assuming there is no pitstop! And now you come up with a mandatory stop. I have no problem with pitstops - i have a problem with last minute rule changes! So everyone who is not part of ITEK is screwed over!
I will participate anyways, but i wanted to adress that critique. CU later.
is there a reason, why my Teammate "Maishaupt" and me ("Der_Dude") are not listed as participants in the opening post of this thread? I just want to make sure we can race with you guys on sunday. CU
me and my Teammate "p.maishaupt" would also like to race that event. We hope it will be a good race for everyone!
I am also a little bit confused about the time it starts. Please confirm that in reference to the UTC time that is displayed by LFS. Thx. Looking forward to Sunday.
When you join an empty server and want to change Quali-Time or Race-Laps you have to click several dozen times to get the result you want. Why not make it a sliding bar to move like in the setup for wings, gears etc. Or at least allow to keep the mouse-button pressed and the numbers increase gradually then.
I know, its not very important, but its the little things that matter... And maybe (i hope so) it is an easy fix.
