Hi all, I haven't replied to a post for ages but I suppose I should reply to this one

As far as I know it doesn't work with the latest LFS because there have been many changes to InSim over the past 6+ months. Given that LFSMM was developed around the time of S1 and the S2 demo coming out I doubt it works.

I have also stopped support for it, if you haven't aready noticed, and there are no plans to update it either, I am pretty busy these days doing other work so theres no spare time for programming LFS addons

If anyone does decide to use it then please use the one in the link above, the first version is crap to say the least and sends me debug reports through email ( still ), atleast the current version works ok.

Also please don't complain that it doesn't do this or that and crashes, it was released as a beta at the time and was far off been finished, you have been warned

I am pretty sure it's not the speed of the memory or drive, LFS is installed on my 7200 rpm 80gig drive and I have another main drive for my OS which is a 10,000 rpm 36gb drive so there isn't any swap issues and I have 1gb of DDR 400 memory.

I don't seem to have any problems with other games which is why I find it strange. It just suddenly start with LFS one day and its done it ever since

If it is a hardware fault then the way in which LFS is loaded and unloaded may be causing the problem.

I guess i'll have to try a few things with my computer setup to try and isolate the problem.

Oh well, if anyone has any more ideas please let me know.
Issues Changing Track and Closing LFS

Hi all

I seem to have developed a strange problem when changing tracks and closing LFS. This problem occured before the new patch and also occurs with the new patch with my previous installation and a new installation.

Heres what happens, LFS loads fine, I go to the track selection then select Fern Bay for example (the track name doesn't matter it happens on all tracks). LFS appears to hang, or atleast thats what I thought, I fired up task manager and what seems to be happening is the CPU allocated for LFS hits around 98% and LFS seems to be unloading its memory very very slowly, when it has unloaded the track data for the current track it then starts to load the new track as normal and then LFS is back to normal as if nothing has gone wrong. Once the track has loaded I can change configuration fine, it is just the changing of tracks which causes this issue.

The same applies to closing LFS, I go to close it by selecing Exit then press Yes, LFS hangs for ages before the credits appear where I can click to close it. It seems to do the same thing here, the memory allocation goes down very slowly until the game is unloaded from memory then it seems to sort itself out.

The unloading of memory can take up to a minute which is very slow

I am starting to think I may have a hardware fault somewhere either in memory or on the hard drive but before I can confirm this I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

Any help is greatly appreciated because it is very frustrating.

Cheers

I'm just going to say horror films hehe, if you could see my dvd collection you would agree with me. I am a huge fan of far east imports and probable Ju-on 1 and 2, Tale of Two Sisters and Battle Royale are at the top of my list, along with some all time greats like Toy Story 1 and 2, Spaceballs, The Thing, Explorers man I could go on, what a hard question lol, i'll have to have a hard think and come back I think.

We could play a 'who's got the largest collection dvds competition' hehe, i'd come pretty high I think some where in the region of 350+ but perhaps for another time.

Hey hey Peeps, feel free to send me your copy of GTR and Rfactor, i'll play em if you wont, theres no point letting them just sit there. :P

Nice to see you finally made it, what took you so long?

Sure why not hehe I've been on this forum for ages now but I guess my presense is overdue, so here I am guys lol!

Quote :He said it looked horrible and felt cheap. One could say if it takes you more than 10 minutes to discover that about a game, then there's something wrong. He gave his opinion of the game, and you are entitled to yours, but we don't want to hear your opinion of him. Leave the personal stuff out of it please.

Thanks Gunn You can tell instantly with things if they are not right for you, you shouldn't have to sit there for hours on end trying to like it, what the hell is the point? I must admit though I think it was slightly longer than 10 minutes if you take into account the setting up of the game rofl Perhaps 20 minutes is more realistic

Well I bought rFactor on Thursday and I have only played it for about, erm let me see, 10 minutes ish, what a waste of money.

It looks horrible and feels so cheap. Is it just me or does it look too smooth? Theres no detail at all, it's like everything is smudged.

It feels and drives exactly like GTR and that is sat in my drawer aswell, that had a life span of about 10 minutes aswell, I guess I have a nack for wasting money hehe.

I can remember playing the demo when it came out ( racing round with Looney if my memory serves my correctly ) and I wasn't overly keen on it but it was fun and I could see room for improvment but having bought the full game now, just to try it mind because there's no demo, I am really dissapointed

I'll keep it installed to see if any updates come out but I seriously doubt I will play it ever again.
