Quote from Stan :I'm going to Yorkshire on Friday to do the Three Peaks of Yorkshire walk on Saturday.

Nice one Stan...don't forget to put a rock on the stone pile at the top of Ingleborough...with mine
You'll know what I mean when you get there...If it's still there it's been a while.

I really wouldn't like the job of fixing the problems with the first season, because to be honest I've had more fun in the free practice sessions chattin' shit and junk than in the few races I have attended, but that's not what you want for a championship...

If there was anything I would change it would be...
1. A later start time...but that is purely personal and wouldn't expect everybody to agree. At least I could race then.
2. Longer races. More chance to catch leaders or overtake.
3. Fixed Setups or setup sharing...already discussed.
4. Less emphasis on SC laps and more on racing.
5. Points for Free Practice attendance.
6. Less kneejerk reactions to problems... i.e. Changing the whole calendar because of one bad race...I was looking forward to Kyoto in the FBM

Quote from Technique :The right setup isn't magically going to allow them to run with the leaders....

Before I bought a licence for LFS I ran quite a lot of laps on BL in the FBM.
I couldn't imagine how the racers on there were getting the times they did...even though I practiced a lot I was way off.
I asked a fellow demo racer for his setup and within 2 laps I had cut nearly 4 seconds off my lap time, it made that much difference.
It was this that helped me make the decision to buy the licence.
I thought I could now run with the big boys. It might make the difference of 2 seconds or 0.2 but it makes the driver think wow I CAN do this, it might be the difference between showing up for a race and not. There is nothing worse than struggling at the back with no clue how to fix it...I know.

Quote from hyntty :I can't remember when someone's got an No-I'm-not-gonna-share-my-set-'coz-I'm-a-selfish-bastard-answer to a set request.

Yeah maybe not exactly that answer...but I have seen MANY requests blanked...
I've also seen on these very forums people sharing setups "but it's not my real race setup" why?
Maybe sharing should be compulsory. I understand the desire to win but we are supposed to be a community and like has been said before, you might not like the setup but somthing in it might help your setups.

Quote from Technique :Drivers must use a wheel.
Sorry but I do not think you can properly control the car with a mouse or keyboard especially when you have cars to the left and right of you and need to make subtle split second movements. This isn't meant as an attack on anyone - I simply think it will lead to less accidents on the track. There's a big difference between running fast in qualifying laps and running safe in large fields of cars.

What next?..All racers should be able to get 60fps with full detail with a full field?
It seems to me from what I've seen during and after races that more crashes are caused by low frame rates or near draw distances than have been caused by not using a wheel.
This is simply Elitist.
Quote from TomMK :Plus, look at round 1 at blackwood, final lap, Jack and Marlboro had an awesome dual, right on the limit, and Jack uses a keyboard.

And I use a Joystick...

Oh and not to sound too negative, I'd like to put forward the idea of "fixed setup races".
I think some people who are members of teams have a much easier time getting a good setup, beginners tend to struggle with this.

Quote from Technique :According to the most recent simulation (fear my video editing skills!), I will start 15th and finish 1st. TAYLOR-MANIA also makes a good showing starting 20th and finishing 3rd.

I need to see a doctor...I don't even remember that race.

Quote from dekojester :So, here's what I'm thinking.

The first lap of the SC period will be counted agianst the total laps. Each lap after will be added to the race distance.

For example, round 5 would have ended up as 11 laps instead of 10.

Will this work ?

d

This rule should work okay, but you must set a maximum lap limit, so people know what fuel loads to put in...say 3 laps on top of race distance.

Quote from kipsus :
One weird thing I noticed that R2/R3 not only last longer than R1 but the handling is better too.

Yeah, I had the same thing in round 2. I couldn't use R2s for a faster lap, they just made the car undrivable for me. I had to use R3s.

Quote from ATC Quicksilver :A chav telling the truth and an earthquake on the same day! I wouldn't be suprised if I woke up in the morning with a flock of pigs flying past my window.

I bet it was the chav telling the truth that caused the earthquake...It's obviously a rip in the fabric of the universe.

I am sorry to hear that you are not sure that you will be available to participate in our series any further. I have appreciated your excellent racing skills and have enjoyed watching you.

You are welcome to come to any event you are able to. You will be still considered an entrant.

I want to start by congratulating TAYLOR-MANIA on his win. Thanks Taylor for the clean racing, I really enjoyed not trading paint with ya.

Commiserations to everybody who binned it...you know who you are...

My apologies to DalekSam for the rear shunt in Qualy. It was a hard hit man but I couldn’t say anything at the time

Sorry to everybody for the early finish to the race...which brings me to the point of this thread.

My flip was a totally unforced by anybody on the track, but was just a loss of concentration on my part. The simple fact is Sunday is my family day, since the loss of a family member a couple of weeks ago (I found out about at the very end of the first round race) family time has become more important. I missed the second race due to family commitments, so I tried really hard to put all of my efforts into the third race...but the simple fact is there is just too much going on around me to concentrate...people coming, people going...babies to kiss while on track at 100mph

With this in mind, I will most likely not attend anymore races in the calendar. I’m really sad because I really like racing you guys, and the series as a whole is really well done (I know people gripe sometimes, but the race organisers have a LOT on their hands and most of the time it goes okay...up front anyway...lol).

I would however like to keep on attending the Free Practice sessions if that’s okay...to keep on pushing the leaders. you KNOW it’s true...

If there is any chance of me attending a race I will let you know at Free Practice (if that’s okay with the race organisers.)...Just so you don’t think I’m trying to lull you into a false sense of security.

Peace, and thanks.

Quote from EveningStar :Its a bit confusing for the ones at the end of the field and i have never seen a rule like this in real racing
Normally you cleared to pass as soon the leader crosses the start/finsish line. So its absolute clear when to overtake.

Normally you can only pass or be passed once YOU have passed the start finish line...
