Well we had the final practice last night. Sam Bird was there again! Duncan Tappy and Elliot Cole were there as well.
The good news is that Duncan and Elliot have asked to be part of the team! Really excited about this. Proper British Endurance GT3 racers I don't think Elliot had a ride this year, but Duncan was running a McLaren MP412C..
Thanks Tristan, I have always thought the same, but have not had the opportunity to test my hypothesis too much :/ Having two kids tends to put a damper on finances haha!
I will search you out next season. I am sure I will go to at least one event. Brooklands College races in the amateur track-day cup that runs with you guys. They are sponsored by 'the race centre' where I sim race.
Tristan you up for a 24hr endurance race on the 15-16Nov in London? Same goes for anyone really, we could always use more drivers! You get a chance to beat up on BRDC F4 cup driver Matt Bell
Watched the replay of Race 1 @ Snetterton. Looked like you were a bit optimistic there methinks I'll give you that, it would take some large ko-hones to shove a car up the inside like that! No wonder your 5kg over the weight limit You have this car sussed it looks like standing starts aside, can't wait to see how it unfolds next season!
With 800hp and custom fabbed chassis? Not a chance.
The basis of touring cars is off the unibody from the manufacturer that is stiffened and re-inforced. Cars usually run around 400hp and mostly use the driveline config that the factory uses. It stops there though, there isn't much left of the stock car once you get past that point.
Stock cars used to use the stock frame, but they evolved from there. The last 10 years or so many people have been calling to go back to a bodystyle like the manufacturer intended. Even the body style though HAS to be modified so it will fit onto the chassis. Each NASCAR chassis is the same, more or less. Sure you see 'ford' 'Chevy' ect. on the start grid. But that's just for fun, there isn't anything that is transferred from the car people can buy.
The engine blocks are supposedly different, but they are so heavily modified that there isn't much point calling the engine a 'Ford' or 'Chevy' engine. Other than for namesake.
Residential (Identified by streetlights) : 30mph
Single Carriageway : 60mph
Dual Carriageway/Motorway : 70mph
If there are any differences to these speeds they will be signposted.
Police usually don't bother people until they are doing 85 on the motorway, but speed cameras may pick you up. Watch out for average speed camera's. You have a set amount of time to get from one camera to another. If you arrive at the second set of camera's sooner than you are supposed to you might as well smile cause they are going to take your picture.
They are hardly separate Dustin, shame on you for pushing ignorance. Thought you were better than that.
They are sold the way they are for a reason. Each branch needs completely different types of people to fulfill their missions. For example I probably wouldn't want a marine grunt building satellites and vice-versa I wouldn't want a Satellite operator manning a machinegun. Everyone in the forces knows that they are all work for the same person. When it comes down to the day-to-day jobs each work with each other to complete their respective missions and each branch brings their strengths to the table. :Kick_Can_
I am hoping Kenseth can pull it off this year. Going to be a close one again I think
I think you are being a bit dramatic there! The Petit isn't going away, only the ALMS is being merged, which can only be a good thing for American Endurance racing.
I was at Brands when you guys ran the GP config in July. I looked for you, but couldn't see you in the paddock. Lucky for you
I was sat on paddock hill and saw your pass for the lead. Great move!
Tough break at Snetterton... you had the pace that's for sure.
Read the article on the F3cup website. I think you could use some trips to Santapod
Nice to see a LFS'er putting some real effort into gunning for a championship and having the knowhow/drive to find the answers and improve. If you can carry the pace you have this year over to next year you should be well into getting that top step the end of next season, goodluck!
Always wondered, how much of your LFS experience have you actually been able to transfer into the real thing? Us sim racers all think that we could do what you are doing, if we had the cash. What things did you really have to focus on to get the pace?
Think part of the difference Tristan is that in most sport there is physical contact and limited use of any tools other than body. Women tend to have lighter/slighter bodies and to be frank most women would not be able to hold up physically to something like a rugby match against a male. (I think here you could insert Becky's argument about societal and ecomomic pressures on women which probably by nature lend towards women wanting to be these slighter/lighter traits.)
The difference in autoracing is that the driver is only a part of the tool and not directly in contact with other drivers persay. The car is the bulk of the mass and most series would have weight limits so in-fact a slight person has an advantage over a larger person (lower CoG and more ballast for balance) (F1 anyone?), so long as their core is strong which is only a case of committing and working to a physical training program.
I struggle to understand when someone else says women can't compete on the same level. Isn't the part of the idea of racing to show everyone which team/person is 'Best'? If someone wants to compete, and has the funding, what's the problem?
Are these people complaining such babies that they can't handle the pressure from their so called 'female' that they deem as 'inferior' in terms of coping with stresses and pressures? What's the big deal? They want to race and feel confident about their skills. Personally I would want as many talented racers as possible in my series.
Matt Bell from BRDC F4 is racing against us this year! Last year my team was just 20 seconds shy of Matt after the race ended. It was a 12 hr race then.
I am asking anyone near the London/South area if they are interested in joining my team! (Tristan :cough: ) Should be a great time and in aid of BBC's Children in Need.
They didn't run 1/2, they ran 4 events which were all intended as shakedown events for the car and team. You can argue pedantics, but the car is based on the new Viper that was unveiled for the 2013 business year. For all intensive purposes the car is brand new.
The same way if you only run a few races in a season as a rookie you can be considered a rookie the next season in a lot of different championships.
With the competition levels found in GT spec racing they needed the events to shake everything out and try to get a car ready for LeMans and to be remotely competitive in ALMS this season.
