This thread could go forever and nothing would get solved.

The "for" want a semi useless option for convenience? Reasons understandable but one or two rub many of the "against" people the wrong way with somewhat elitist comments

The "against" are afraid that they will no longer be able to play when they will most likely never even see a difference if it was done. People are acting as if they will have to play sp because all servers will shut them out.

Same points are said endlessly over and over

Quote from alland44 :Try to "bump" my car, and I will hit the brakes !
Me and other danes, once drove with numberplates with this text "NO BUMP".

In all computergames, people looks after cheats, so they can win and feel divine. You can cheat all you want, my friend, but you are NOT using my car to do it !

Your way - Why not weld the cars together ???

I am just saying its not cheating. Never said I did it.

And I do pretty well winning without ever touching others.

You have to compensate for the lack of downforce. Turn in early and use the inside curb to help turn the car.

Even if you do choose to just hang back a little, you make it sound like once you have lost the draft that the race is over. If I am half a second behind a guy and can't catch that up through just going a bit faster then I prob should not be in front of him/her.

AS2 is a 5 lap race has ample time for you to do what you need to. SO4 is one of those tracks that many people just don't do well at, so you can be safe until people string out then just pick them off. It usually takes me 2 races before I can actually start to race for a win.

Never a reason to dive into first corners all wreckless.

Cheating? no. Maybe frowned upon by some but not cheating

Drivers do what they can get away with to go faster....

Reverse tracks would be cool. Main track I want is Aston National though.

The short tracks don't really bother me. Restraint is required on them and thats just not gonna happen so the crashes are no surprise, because we all know the finish line is on the exit of turn 1.:insane:

Quote from NightShift :The more you people endlessly whine against this option, the more is clear it is YOU that want to limit the usage that other people may want to make of LFS.

Nothing about being against the option limits anything that one can do. It just doesn't offer the convenience.

Whining, that is on both sides of this argument. From what I can tell, a lot of the feeling on the against side is that those who are for have a bit of an attitude that they are better than others.....which your gamepad comment kinda shows.

Ok I understand what you are saying Glenn67. With me being an open wheeler almost exclusively, maybe I am missing some of this argument though. I just don't mind much at all what people use as long as they race fair.

I get the variables that it introduces and all but.....ehhh

Like I said before, whatever yes or no....but at the same time seems useless since there is nothing stopping you guys from doing it now in a different manner.

Question I have is why does one who uses manual clutch not want to drive against someone who is. Reading previous post I cant really pinpoint it because if its not for the position and is just for realism, then why does it matter if you are on a pub server with other people using different control types?

Does one really want the single coder for this game to put his time into a feature that isn't needed to accomplish the goal? Regardless of all that has been said it comes down to that for me. I rather time be spent making the core game better.

Quote from STF :Why ? That`s like wanting to have a third testicle. And this is not the case.

.....

Anyways, as a former rumblepad user for my first 2 months in lfs I would have to say it is much easier for me with the wheel. You have that twitch recover, but that's because when entering the corner you twitched and sent the car into a slide. Having your entire steering input crammed into a half inch space didn't help me especially once i got a little faster and was pushing cars more towards their limits.

Cant a group of the guys that want non auto-clutch just use a password protected server?? Anyways I say give em the option

Maybe the forums can add another line under the license status so it can say "clutch user" for those that have the 3 pedals, though my momo won't let me have it......

Had some great races yesterday on FE3! There were minimal crashes and I broke my pb a few times.

I don't think most of the people really try to crash. Most of the time its just a person trying to do something they cant or the car cant. Like how many people don't compensate for two wide racing. Seems people rather crash than be passed a lot of times.

I found if you just act like you are going to try to pass someone on the outside through corners...many will crash on their own. Brake just early and watch the show....

I love the server, usually great racing for me. I have many replays of epic battles.
