Lucky me, i'm not stupid , tonight i've tested with the full path and this doesn't work either, tomorrow i will try the debug option see if that will give some more info.

Hi Tim,

Quote :Use $allow = "username"; or you can use a file with the usernames of the admin's $allow = "&C:\Program Files\LFS\CommonFiles\admin.txt";

I've tried both suggestions as well, the files are in the same directory as LFSlapper, instead of the full path i've used "&./admin.txt" as mentioned in the manual.

The path redirection is the same as the swearword options which works fine, tonight i will give the full path solution a try, hopefully it will work! (makes me even feel more stupid... :shrug

Tnx for your time!

Can't use the "limited" admin rights

Hi everyone,

As everyone i do have a question as well , the lapper is running nice and smooth, but, i can't use the "limited" admin rights.

In the script it's this part:

...
$UseUsernameForAuthentication = true;

Register MsgAction("!test",MA_test);
Sub MA_test()
$allow = "Username or Nickname";
cmdLFS("/rcm " . $Nickname . " is testing...");
cmdLFS("/rcm_ply " . $Nickname );
EndSub
...

I won't mention the other 3, the problem is for all 4 the Register MsgAction parts. In the game i get the message "You do not have admin rights".

However, the IdleExclude does work, as far as i know the UseUsernameForAuthentication = true is working well.

Can somebody give me a hint?

Regards,
Ronald

Download the latest version and install it in a different directory, go and play with this new install, if that works copy all the important files from your old install, maybe this will help?

The code is sent by e-mail in a couple of minutes, maybe it's clasified as spam?

you can also check your account, possibly it is listed there.

Can you post the deb.log and a screenshot of the lfs server?

Ok, that means i have to lower the prices, I take a look at the website of 500servers and the prices they have are quit low.

Until next weekend i don't have much time, please keep posting, i'll read and if necessary post a reaction.

Thanks for the reactions and advise.

When having enough knowledge to maintain a rootserver (or virtual server), installing the software and configuring LFS and the addons, you're completly right.

However, this is not the intention, it is intended for gamers without knowledge who want an own server and a simple way to manage.

And personally I do not have such good experiences with LFS in a virtual environment, for some reason it gives somekind of lag.

When comparing to other hosters/gameservers, I think the price is not that bad.

The following should be considered:
The hardware should be replaced in about 3 years.
Datatraffic can be expensive
Hosting of the gameserver in a datacenter
expenditure for maintenance on the server
Uptime = 24/7 99.9%

And full package, isn't that a littlebit overkill?

Regards,
Ronald

ps. what is a reasonable price to you?

In the first place, tnx for the positive reaction!

The difference between public and private is that a private server have a predefined password, just like e.g. the COD and MOHAA servers.
Datatraffic for that server is less than a public server where everyone can join, therefor the price per slot is less.

A public server however can also be private, but the password option is free and the server admin can choose if it's a private or public server.

I hope that this is the answer to your question.

Ronald

I was Looking for a LFS hoster in the netherlands but can't find 1 fitting my needs, so I start building a webbased racemanager panel.

Below the result:

Now it's finished and I started a gamehosting company, if anyone is interested take a look at http://www.gamehosters.net

For a list of possibilities please take a look here:
