@Scawen
This is a disappointing and the wrong strategy (in my opinion). There is always something more to find out. A simulation will never perfect. I understand, that the physics seem not work in certain situations. But after a "promise" 2 years ago to release new content, it should have been your priority to release new content.
It seems to me, that you are chasing a carrot. You always have new ideas for new features and then figure out, that it takes more time to analyze and implement these things, until they are "perfect".
The 24th was the last date for me, for a new patch or a definitive release date. I will neither buy an S2 license nor play LFS anymore. I bought an S2 license for a friend of mine early in 2009 for his birthday, in hope for the Scirocco and new content. I also planned to buy a license for myself, as soon as the new content would have been released...
In my(!) opinion anything but a release this year is not acceptable..., though I know this does not speed up development. But Scawen should release at least a test patch with all features and use (for now) a simple physical solution for the cases, where the new tyre physics do not work as expected. Though I guess it would be difficult to combine the new tyre physics with "workaround physics" for special cases.
Yes, i think i can judge the physics also as demo user. I've driven a lots of XRT and FBM in Blackwood (1:12.38 --> no hard shortcutting, only using curbs). There are various points, which feel/are unrealistic with the current physics: Tyre heating/cooling, dirt on tyres, tyre grip and car behaviour when driving the car at the limit. I can handle it, but i know and feel it's far from a real world behaviour.
But i'm confident these things will get fixed/better with the patch.
Graphics: comic-like colors, lighting, no real environment mapping, tyre smoke (too simple), track objects like trees (too simple)
More important than new tracks or cars is improved physics, graphics and sound (in this order). With Rockingham and one or two new cars in the next patch, there's really no deficit.
Just wanted to tease you (just for fun), without smiley (which is more fun).
Anyway i'm not a 3, i'm no fanboy. But i can't deny, i'm waiting for the patch
and i think it is/was the wrong strategy to hold back other new features
(Scirocco, falling off car parts and crash physics, graphic updates) until the
new tyre physics are finished. :Kick_Can_
But anyway, i concentrate on my real life and my next holiday with my girlfriend
I don't care much about the Scirocco too. Because a low power and low grip
FWD car has never been exciting to drive in a video game (at least for me). It
feels like slowmotion, because the sense of speed and forces is missing. Of course
in real life it's something else...
I'm waiting for:
- New tyre physics
- New crash physics or falling of car parts (which has been promised before)
- Updated graphics and sound
Before somebody moans, that i'm just a demo racer. I bought S2 for a friend
for his birthday. I think of buying it for myself, though i've not much time to
play, but definitely NOT before we get a real update.
In plain language: Since the FBMW (Dec 2007) has been released, there was
no update, which made the game experience better (no graphics, sound or
physics update). Yes tell me about new interiors and so on...
When it might be released? --> Yes! (I guess on...)
When it is released? --> No!
But I don't think it is released for demo. Anyway i don't care about that,
because i'm not that excited about the Scirocco. And i wan't to keep the
FBM instead of being replaced by the Scirocco. I'm more excited about
graphics, physics and other updates.
