After you press exit in the menu there are 2 screens appearing and you have to click on them to disappear and to be able to leave the game. Now it wont exit when I click on it with mouse, I have to press esc.
I updated from 06C to 06D, don't know if fresh install would make it go back to normal as it was in 06B. But its not a big thing, it was easier that way though.
Not a bid deal but when I want to leave LFS and press exit in the menu two mouseclicks doesnt throw me back to windows as it used to in 06B now you have to press esc also. Should it work this way?
Parade lap is warm up lap before race? If that one could be implemented somehow it would be great. Even that "restart without moving anyone" is welcome, but is it hard to code that the sim checks if every racer is close enough to his starting point on the grid and after that it starts the race automatically?
There are still issues no doubt, but it feels much better than before.
As Dave said tire wear is right now, but don't forget tire wear and degradation are two different things and degradation isnt implemented yet.
Grant Reeve staff forum post regarding temperature readings:
"To clarify on the generic description in Dave's quoted comment, the 3 measured temperatures we show are purely from the width of the tread surface, the sidewalls have their own temperatures and are completely seperate.
From what I can tell when I've looked at the tire temp "measurement" code, it looks perfectly reasonable. That the results aren't quite what people expect is more I think an indicator that parts of the NTM aren't quite spreading load over the surface as ideally as we would like due to certain simplifications of the overall shape of the tire that Dave would like to improve eventually that means the center is generally doing more work than the edges, and I suspect a little too much rolling drag heat at speed which pushes up the center temp.
It's all work in progress, and will get better over time. But this whole process is purely research - can't get it done in a month, patience is a virtue. It's taken 3+ years to get the NTM to here and will keep improving and getting better for years to come.
Those who are recommending to just figure out what the tires like are on the right track. "
Eric Hudec staff forum post:
"That's because our temps at those slips don't affect the tires enough. That'll change though. "
Interesting... wondering that how much resources lfs needs tire physics wise or will need ( if Scawen needs to optimise it to the current pc's as somewhere was written )
"GameSpy: You've referred to the NTM as a simulation within a simulation, which implies that there's going to be quite a lot of CPU cycles devoted to it. Does it have any impact on performance?
Dave Kaemmer: It probably has a slight impact. The case is that the physics takes a very few percent of the CPU time and as the CPUs get faster that percentage falls. Most of the CPU is devoted to graphics and audio and all the other bookkeeping. You've got to do some physics for all the other cars that you see and the network stuff and everything, so it's actually a pretty small percentage."
Anyway fixing bugs gets the priority. I have found one, the car started to rotate on his own when i stopped it, while tyres were standing still. I sent em a report and 1 week after a patch came out which fixed it.
Is it possible to check if the qualy lap was driven by mx cup or roadster at qualifying results? It would be interesting to see what kind of cars are in the first 10 fastest lap @LRP.
I've got that 3 month re-activation a month ago, i renewed few days ago so i've got 3 month to play now, but i've checked my mail today and i see they sent another one It expires 11/30/2010 so i can do nothing with it. I hope they send me another one 3 month later
