I have exactly the same problem, it occurs only in on-line mode.

Looks like it's connection related.
I join a server, see a car, it changes into a (lag xxx) sign, stopped on the track. After 2 secs, boing, it suddenly appears further down the track, moving at race speed. After 5 secs it stops, only to appear further after 2 secs. Rinse and repeat.

As a FIA licensed motorsport marshall (local class, so usually I'm the one with the broom... need to get to a national class license ASAP, I'm too lazy to jump over the armco and clean sh*t up, constantly looking over my back and praying they don't run me over) I can only say :wow: :faint2:

I can almost hear the radio: Post 13, yo've got two laps under yellow to clean this sh*t up! GOGOGOGO!!!

I don't recommend downloading any and all setups that are "fast", "best" etc. They may be miles away from your driving style.

Without your help I'd start to hate LFS. Thanks

Well, I made two laps 3 seconds off WR, the others were not so good. But I'm still kind of proud of myslef.

I took a bit of the rear ARB off, locked the diff more, and look at that: I'm 3 seconds off the WR for that car/track combo!

I've read H. Watt's "Secrets of Solo Racing" book and I'm a convert to the "drive the way the car/track demands you to drive" philosophy. This is why I dind't want to change the default setups at first. Now I see that they were really bad though (in my opinion).

Hm, I don't know if this is an improvement or not...
Feels different but the times haven't changed that much.

I made a run with 2.2 bar in front and 2 in the back and the tires were warmed up nicely after 3 laps.
Hyperactive, what do you mean by being more aggressive? Slipping (not sliding) the tires more?
As for my real car, I'll probably reduce these pressures, I ran them so high because I had a really crappy suspension and it literary ATE front tyre sidewalls while cornering hard. Now I have had the shocks rebuilt, revalved, front lowered a bit and it handles like a different car .

Thanks. I'll try 0.2 bar less in the tires (I'm using metric units... BTW for amateur rallies I'm running 2.8 bar front and 3.0 rear in my 1100cc Renault 5). As for bump and rebound: the GT has only one shock adjustment...?

Ok, using the advice from this thread I recorded a new replay. Again, awaiting comments.

I tried reducing the view angle to 65 degrees and indeed it seems to have helped a lot.

Thanks, I'll follow your advice and report back

Actually, it isn't. Unless there's a way to disable damage...
Perhaps it would be good for me to have some drifitng practice? I'm thinking about the doing the very basic 90, 180, figure eight etc. stuff on the parking lot in a "prepped" (locked diff, gavel tyres on the back) GT? That's how people practice sliding and recovery in real life.

A cheap-o Saitek R100. It gets the job done.
I'd like to ask you about what should I practice with the XF GT. I don't believe that just driving up and down a track (crashing every 15 seconds) will teach me anything.

I'm increasingly frustrated as I had no such problems in other sims and no such problems in real life (I drive only FWD cars but left foot braking or lift-off oversteer are my buddies ).

My second replay (the one you test drove I think) used a modified 'default' setup (no rear anti-roll bar and 70% lock on coast side: this was recommended on this thread).

As of now I'm completely paralysed by fear of oversteer. 9 out of 10 times I'm unable to catch the rear or I overcorrect badly. So I guess power-oversteer is out of my reach.

Have anyone took a look at those replays?

Two replays, three laps each, Aston Cadet, LX6.
The first replay was driven on 'default' setup, the second one with a midified 'default' setup (no rear anti-roll bar and 70% lock on coast side).
Lines are horrible, my wheel's acting up a bit (late downshifts and an occasional brake feather) but all in all this should give you an idea of the mess I'm in.

I'm using default setups. My philosophy is "drive what you've got". I think I'll have to gain some skill with default set-ups before I start wrenching away in the garage. Not that I'd know what to do...
Before you say I 'complain' about physics, read what I have written: I don't know if it's just me, or the game.
As for the replay: I'd have to record one. Can you recommend what should it be? Practice? Race? How many laps? What car?
Street tires + RWD (help needed)

Hello, I have some experience in simracing, however, I'm unable to cope with RWD cars using street tires in LFS. I don't know if it's just me, or the game (don't beat me up for writing this). The reason I'm saying this is because I'm doing so-so with slicks. Actually, I just get in and drive, fuss free. With stock tires and RWD, every corner is a challenge... that I fail.
Yes, I know about weight transfer and tire slip angles (I have real life motorsport experience and I drive a Renault 5... yes, the same that is famous for it's lift off oversteer) but those RWD street cars feel like they have greased bricks instead of rear wheels. Every single time I lift a bit or gas it a bit a mad oversteer slide starts that I am very rarely able to catch. The slide begins very abruptly in my opinion, with no warning of what's coming. Didn't have such problems in GPL or GTL...

Hi, I'm 23 and I'm from Poland. I have driven pretty much all sim racing games (GPL, NASCAR 2003, GTR, GTL, RBR, etc.) although I can't say I was really good at them. I joined the LFS community, because I find races with stupid/blind AI extremely annoying. So far I'm doing more or less OK on slick tires but absolutely suck as far as the RWD + street tires combo goes.
In real life, I'm heavily into motorsports. I participate both as a marshall (amateur rally, also amateur and pro racing), as an event organizer (amateur rallies and training events for organised groups from car clubs etc.) and as a competitior (amateur rallies). In the future, I'd like to continue my amateur/club competition career, improve both my car handling skills and roadcraft, take part in at least one pro event (I'd prefer a rally but a race will do ) and advance in the ranks of motorsport staff.
