Vehicle mod: NOMAD GT1
Details page: https://www.lfs.net/files/vehmods/4F14AC

SHORT DESCRIPTION:
Quote :High powered Japanese-Italian GT Sports car.

DESCRIPTION:
Quote :Definitly a poster-car from the late 90's.
Didn't meet the intended success in it's original racing life, due to mechanical and technical difficulties as well as huge penalties in terms of weight and restrictions [to favor national success].

Loosely based on the entries of the famous Japanese Lamborghini Owners Club team otherwise known as JLOC, they ran the Diablo for a few years with a couple of updates and evolutions, this car is based on those.

Finding the exact numbers of what power the car had in the end with the correct balance of the performance was virtually impossible, so this is the unrestricted version.

Raceabout Cup

Hello!

So I decided to give the Raceabout some long wanted love, to make it into a cup car.

What? :

It's a [very] modified Raceabout, visually it has received some race upgrades and the body itself creates a small amount of downforce. A different engine with a bigger power range, less power and no turbo, all to promote closer racing as well as a sequential transmission with ignition cut.

The suspension has received a complete overhaul as the engine is now longitudial instead of it's traditional transverse setup, therefore it was essential to create different pick up points and roll centres.

The chassis itself has also received a big overhaul, as some components on this model has slightly different values, let's call it more 'racey' for lack of better words; Roll Cage that slightly increases the centre of gravity, rear chassis which is slightly heavier than the front to receive the magical 47% front weight.
Fuel tank has been moved to the front and slightly offset to the right to combat the cross weight from our driver.

Tires are squared, which means all tires are the same size, 200mm width, 16 inch rims and solely on R4.

Why? :

I wanted to make a car that has all the ingredients to create great battles as well as promoting correct driving style and most importantly : FUN.

It is something that I've been working on, on and off for about a year now, having to let my ideas marinate before I'd implement them. Sure it would've been great to make a powerful car that is hard to control and make it fun that way, but I think close racing, overtakes, slipstream fights is what creates a good race car.

To do list :

Gauges - I have no idea about modelling in LFS, so it is something that I either need to learn or get some help with.
Rims - I'd like to have better rims on the car, something that resembles a bit more racing, but also a bit entry level.
Body - few tweaks here and there on the body to suit the new engine layout better.

Specs :
2.0 L Inline 4
176 bhp @ 7219rpm
194 nm @ 5406rpm
852 kg (Without driver)
210 bhp/ton (Without driver)
46.2% Front weight (Without driver)

Anyways, I'll add to the topic once I receive skins etc.

Will continue to test Smile

I'm for, but only because of 'lacking' content for bigger tracks.
AS4/5, KY2/3, SO4/r and WE2 is the only tracks really suited for longer races and faster cars, so it would be great to have some additions to those venues.

Simply having another Paul Ricard or Spa Franchochamps wouldn't do it for me in LFS.

The past years were great, we were getting progress reports at the end of every month. Frown

You are fairly ''old'' here and you should know by now that LFS is not a tripple A title and does not have a marketing team to pleasure costumers.

We get news, when we get news and then we rejoice.

Hello!

I think there is about 100 open cases per day, so give it some time, usually takes a while to have these things handled. Have patience Smile

I think it's fundamentally wrong to wonder about other peoples business.
Scawen to me is a mythical person that probably has more things going on than LFS.

I think I'll be fine for a while :

MSI GeForce RTX 3090 VENTUS
ASUS TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS D4
Intel Core i9 12900K (12. Gen) / 3.2 G
Team Group T-Force Vulcan Z - 16GB X4.

I am not sure if this is entirely off-topic as it's a suspension question, currently it is only achievable to optain a great caster angle than 6, by running macpherson, which is virtually unlimited, is it a possibility to increase or make it optional to increase this on Double Wishbone and other suspension types? Thanks a lot.

Never knew I'd be so happy with pop up headlights in LFS.
But I am, this is a great update, Thank you, Scawen!!!

Quote from Scawen :
The purpose of this current test patch is to release an official version with much better mod support than in the currently official version, so that mod makers can keep making nice mods while I get on and finish the physics for the new version (improved tyre physics and much better graphics, with significantly updated tracks) that we are all waiting for.

Any plans to incrypt modded cars (By choice) if possible for the future? Or is it even possible at this stage?
Reason why I am asking, is due to plans of creating a championship where it would be good to hide certain information on cars.

Quote from zeeaq :What is good Telemetry Addon or Software to use with LFS?

I looked but couldn't find an unofficial addon or third party tool that is compatible with LFS for this purpose. I am aware that there are some tools that can analyze data from SPRs but what about online practice?

I generally do practice runs (10 lap stints) on the (FM) GTi Thursday Server. Even something as basic as a table with lap times and splits will be very useful.

Any recommendations?

So direct answer if not already answered is : No. There isn't enough recorded data in MPR's to create a sufficient Datalog, therefore telemetry is not possible.

For SPR : Yes, there is a program for it. Did some digging on the LFS Wiki and found this within 1 minutes, so... Google, before making new threads is always a good idea Smile https://en.lfsmanual.net/wiki/Telemetry

Quote from zeeaq :....
And, if you are open to taking more ideas for the future, my other request would be live telemetry..

Yes, this is something that would be a great idea from the strategic point of view, live telemetry with output to a friend would be great, good suggestion! Thumbs up

Just to put some gasoline on the fire;
Has it ever been processed that the moon is moving slightly further away from the earth every year, and this is causing a less spherical shape of the waters(Which I guess also makes the time in sun longer??). Which in return has less circulation and creates more heat from the outcome?

You're welcome for the very (un)scientific comment from a guy who is contributing greatly to the collapse of the climate.

Quote from Scawen :Interesting thought but it won't be in this round of test patches. Everything I do in the current public version must be merged into the separate development version, which isn't always easy. Also any changes in the core of the physics system are likely to invalidate all the hotlaps, which isn't worth doing at the moment. Also, incompatible setups, online compatibility, interface updates, etc...

I look forward to releasing the development version, so we only have one version and it will be much easier to add new features then.

I just watched this 12 min video about heave springs.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNInCfCkrkE

I agree. Adding it to existing cars would perhaps not be ideal.
If you look at most pro setups for BF1, FOX, GTRs (winged cars general in LFS) setups are always much higher than what you’d expect, and this is because of the big delta in dynamic and static force on suspension, which normally is adjusted with packer gaps, heave, preload and other fancy words I cannot fathom to remind my jet lagged mind.

Would it be something perhaps to have as a experimental stage in the editor alone? I believe the system itself is ready, as it already simulates roll stiffness incredibly accurate.

Thanks.

Would it be possible to look into working on having bump rubbers and the addition of heave springs?
I feel like many of the higher downforce cars, GT's, Formulas suffer from not having the option to use it.

I understand that there is a lot on your plate, but I think it would be a great addition to the sim, a long with the 1000hz Smile
Thanks.

Maybe having the choice between avg of last 5-10-15 or fuel per lap would be a solution, I think everyone is in two minds about how the “right way” is for reading fuel.
*EDIT* Personally I would always like to mark a lap, we have this function on the real cars to mark a lap, and use that for referencing deltas etc, same goes for fuel, so it shows -0.07 or +0.07 if you’ve used more or less last lap, it’s very handy when you have to make 28 laps but can only do 27 on full push Smile

I agree 3J it is getting a bit crowded but it does look like Scawen has a bit of a design update in store for us when looking at text font etc. Smile
