I use the old version of Fraps (fraps 1.9D)
It's not limited to 30s capture and it doesn't draw a "fraps" logo in the movie.
Limitations are :
No sound
Max size is 640 X 480 but this is more than enough for movies.
You can still find Fraps 1.9d on the Net (google is your friend)
I tried gamecam but as far as I can see you can not select framerate nor resolution.
Premiere 6.5 may be old but I own a licence and it's just fine for editing my DV's. Paying 1000 Euros just for the few more features ( I mostly won't need ) illepall .
I never tested the Premiere "elements" maybe this could be the way to upgrade my old software.
Do you know the limitations between "elements" and the pro version ?
I used to make some LFS movies but was always facing the same issue with Premiere.
I use Premiere 6.5 and I imported raw avi 640*480 clips from Fraps.
Edition was a nightmare. Premiere was very slow and I had a lot of crashes because of memory issues (I have Win XP and 1 Go ram ). But in raw format you have to handle clips that sometimes weight 1 Go !!!
I tried with Divx compressed clips and it was not that better.
Is this a Premiere 6.5 issue that has been fixed in the new Premiere pro ?
I finally found this solution. I converted all my clips to DV avi (with virtual dub and the Panasonic Codec). Of course I had to change resolution from 640*480 to 720*576 (We use Pal here) ...
After that done, I had no problem at all to edit in Premiere. It went smooth as if I edited clips from my camcorder. Rendering to DV is very fast too.
Now if I want to share the movie I only have to reconvert (and deinterlace) to Divx in virtual dub.
SERVER SUCKS .
Live for speed is going the very bad way. With no server this software has no future. I am a very early LFS registred user and I must say that it has never been so bad !!!!
Hi ! GotiKGotcha. I have free.fr too. Sometimes I can have a full day without disconnexions but I found out that there are more disconnexions around 9 to 10 pm. This maybe due to network been overloaded. I also found out that the problem increases. I didn't had so many disconnections two years ago.
Last season I could only finish half of the races because of disconnections.
We also have racers that are still connected with RTC and they also would appreciate this feature...
Most of disconnections are due to ADSL problems, not servers. The disconnection can last one minute, just the time to reconnect and join the race again.
We make two hours races on line. Most of the time 25% of players are disconnected before the end of the race. This is very frustrating because if you reconnect you cannot join the race again on the lap you leaved but you have to restart from lap 0.
A great improvement could be that ( as an option from admin ) if you re-join a race after been disconnected at lap X you can restart the race from the pits at let's say lap X-1.
I don't know if this is technically possible but in my opinion this would be a great improvement when you run long races.
