fantastic program! i have a problem, and a solution to it. as said in the first post, the app does no error checking and therefore closes if anything goes wrong. i would usually catch it through strange red insim failure messages ingame and start it back up, but i noticed that it rarely stays active for over a lap. i've made a simple .bat file that will automatically run lfs and the app, and will automatically re-open the app if it should close.
put this into notepad and save as camlevel.bat or whatever:
@echo off START LFS.exe /insim=10000 :Start Camlevel START /min /WAIT camlevel_w4h.exe GOTO Start Camlevel END
put it in your lfs s2 directory (where camlevel.exe should be already) and make a shortcut to your desktop.
but yes, fantastic app and +1 for adding it to lfs.
Ah, the man himself. Much thanks...I had been all over that thread but the attachment didn't show up. Maybe I shouldn't always use Google's cached pages - :google:
wrong link...this little app will come in handy and I didn't know it existed, so thx anyway, but I need an outgauge gateway, not an outgauge engine stall app
So there used to be this program that was an outgauge gateway run from command line. Any links left to the app have been removed. Is this app still around somewhere or is there something comparable? I am sick of addons blocking out CSR.
But it is not about keeping cruising in mind or catering to a niche group of users, it is purely that there's a lot of S2 users out there that, for whatever reason, would like the old multiplayer reset to be an option available as well. I think we all need to forget that cruise servers were mentioned at all and consider this.
More options to please the end user of any software is never a bad thing. However, like any business/customer relationship, I'm sure Scawen is eager to please all those involved, not simply state "well that's not really what our product was designed for, so you're just S.O.L." I know the drifters of LFS will love the option to get right back into the action, instead of trying to catch up to the crowd from the pits. Having said that, the two options seem like extremes...a middle ground would be ideal. I would like to see the original "reset without repair" option included as well, hopefully in one of the early test patches for X.
As far as the cruise servers...they always have layouts with barricades. And we all know what happens if you go in a little hot to a turn and nick a barricade...a catastrophic tumbling hundreds of feet in the air, sometimes landing at inaccessible points on the course. Towing takes care of any situations where the car is too destroyed to continue, or if you get stuck in the sand, or whatever...but nothing short of a reset is going to help if you end up in the 2D crowd. There are serious consequences to pitting, regardless if it is a cruise server or a race server.
