I still check-in once in awhile to see what's been done. Great to see some familiar names. LFS is still installed on my PC waiting until new any content is available.
Try putting the "overall effects strength" to <= 100%. I see you have it at 110%. I think most people had that same problem when it was set over 100%. I have a G25 at 100% and it does not do that at all.
I'm not liking the virtual clocks for the FO8/BF1, so I switched to the view of DRIVER OFF WHEEL ON for these two vehicles. The only problem is that once I change to any other car I would like to have DRIVER OFF WHEEL OFF. This view option only shows up once you are in the car on the track, so it's a little cumbersome to change back and forth. At first I thought that once I changed the view it would be saved with the particular vehicle and that once I chose the FO8 or BF1 again it would already be set to my preference. But it actually stays set to whatever the previous view option was. Is it supposed to be this way??
If it is, I was looking at the option of making a script for these two vehicles, (even though i know only a little bit about scripting) but just couldn't find the command. Is there a command for this view option??
On the minimap you attached: Well that is a view I don't use when racing so I can't help you there.
Errmmm, you just contradicted yourself, as just a few posts before, you mentioned you didn't care about "those who are miles away from you". Now you say you want to know which direction the crashers are driving??? If the crashers are around you and you can't figure out which direction they are heading that you would need to see it on the minimap, I can't help you out there either.
BTW, I only turned the minimap back on just recently just to see the new triangle shapes (so pretty). I used to only race league races so when i had the minimap on, I would look there, loose my concentration and soon find myself in the grass or sand trap. So I turned it off and had much better results. Hmmm.. I think I better turn the minimap off again
Anyways, I said "squares" as an example for lapped traffic. It could be any other shape. What I mentioned is not what Scawen HAS to code into LFS, so don't worry so much that it's not going to be to your liking.
I believe that's because the minimap rotates in accordance to your relative direction. Since you are facing the wall, off track somewhere, the minimap rotates as well, making your location not visible as you say. If you had turned the car facing away from the wall and towards the correct direction of the track, most likely your position would become visible again.
As for the minimap itself and the new triangles, I think it's good but here's my suggestion to make it better. Everyone, so far, has been mentioning position numbers of different colors to distinguish lapped cars and those on the same lap. I would think that shapes are far more easier. Keep the color coding as they are now, but if a driver is a lap or more behind then the shape would change, for an example, back to the squares. Those on the same lap would be triangles but still using the color coded system as it is now. This way you still have to see only 2 colors on the minimap (so it's not too messy or "arcadey" as it's been mentioned before).
I agree. It amazes me how many people are afraid of getting caught passing under a yellow flag, either intentionally or unintentionally. I always hear excuses like LFS's system is not proper nor fair "sometimes". And that there should not be any penalties given automatically by calculation that a computer makes. OK, i agree that the yellow and blue flag system is not perfect and never said it was, but if you see a message in the center of your screen "YELLOW FLAG", you are supposed to back off the throttle and DO NOT PASS for position. Even if you think the flag has been wrong shown, just as in RL racing, it is still a yellow flag and you must obey it.
i tried a driver change... it showed both my drivers on the LFS list but only showed my registered name on the site. I'm not sure if that was made intentionally or not.
Also for the number of attempts...it doesn't seem to count all of them, because i did way more laps than that. For what i can understand, it seems to count the number of times you set a new pb. Maybe "attemps" is not the proper word, although i can think of anything else right now.
I think they are still working on it. I also think they want to be more organized by getting the race manager program working properly, so that the website is updated automatically (something like that ).
Anyways, I will let Nick know about this thread so maybe he can respond more accurately
yes thanks, someone else mentioned that to me. actually my original avi is quite smooth but it was also a 1.4Gig file it was in the process of trying to make the file smaller that it lost quality and smoothness. like i mentioned in the first post, it's my first try at making a movie (and still learning new things) and i accept all critisisms. i have since redone the downsize (from the original 1.4gig file) and it seems much smoother and is only a few megs larger than the file uploaded at foxcheck.org. i will soon upload this new version to LFS movies pit. stay tuned.
Here is a vid of season 3 of the North American League races. This is my very first try at making a movie, so I hope you enjoy it as I enjoyed making it. It's also sort of an unofficial movie to possibly promote more north americans to race LFS and the LFSNAL
Did you ever think about trying to ride it with the castered wheels in the rear instead of in front? As I was reading through the thread, I thought of the idea but by the end you had already had the "accident".
BTW the post with photo of the superman position literally made me fall off my chair from laughing.
