I hadn't used an electric saw in quite a while so I was glad to not lose any limbs in the process
The next step is going to be getting the seat setup welded in (which will likely happen later this week or this weekend) so we can trial fit everything else before making the final cuts and welds.
Also, it appears that my GT3RS will be shipping out this week. I also got the CSR shifter and pedal inversion kit to go with it .
So I've been looking to update my sim racing setup for a while now. I'm currently running a stock G25 with a bowl seat and a snack tray...not exactly an ideal setup. I also don't feel like spending $500 on ordering a good cockpit, so I've decided to set aside about $150 and build my own. Here's what I have so far:
The seat out of my dad's old race car - free
30 feet of steel - $80 (probably going to need a little more, as you'll see in the diagram)
Adjustable seat tracks out of an old van - $16 from a junkyard
And here is an unfinished general design layout that I have planned (the seat will be closer than 12 inches)
My goal is for the rig to be sturdy, simplistic, and capable of housing any wheel setup I may get in the future.
I also just ordered a Fanatec GT3RSV2 wheel with CSR Elite pedals to go along with this build (with the money I saved by building the rig myself), as I have a friend of mine lookin to buy my G25 and get a bit more serious into sim racing. I'll keep this thread updated with pictures and progress as it happens. Thanks for reading!
Lol yeah...I've apparently been the grim reaper for teams I've joined. Starlite only lasted like 2 months after I got in, then I was going to do some driving for SCCC (who had been together for like 5 or 6 years) and they split up only 2-3 weeks later. Hopefully history doesn't repeat itself.
I apologize for randomly popping into this thread out of nowhere (and way late ), but I couldn't help but chuckle as I read through the posts on here. My days of hard core LFS playing are in the past, but I do like to check in and watch replays of the big events and such. I remember watching the replay of last year's Kyoto 250 from KoK's point of view - since I remembered all the attention and praise he got during the live stream - and I was absolutely disgusted at how he conducted himself on the race track. I was equally surprised at the fact that he never got penalized for any of it (at least not that I recall; correct me if I'm wrong), especially for a league that really prides itself on clean driving.
So as you can imagine, now I pop in to see how this year's event went and I'm seeing posts about other racers not being pleased with his driving (and retaliating) and I can't help but laugh a little bit because I saw it coming after last year's event. The guy has raw talent no doubt, but he painfully lacks the maturity and respect to harness it properly. And now that I just got finished watching this year's replay from his POV, I know that I'd be looking at removing him from future events if I was in a position to do so. At several points during the race, it looked like he just thought it was a single player race with no consequences. There was one point where he went down into the grass to dodge a wreck and just flies back up onto the track at quite a high speed and smacks into another driver, sending him into the wall; he had plenty of opportunity to slow the car down to a proper level. And the insane chop-block he pulled on J.Holmes coming to the finish like at the end was simply uncalled for (yeah, I saw his protest against Holmes in the other thread and went back to watch the replay...he barely got nudged into the turn and that was due to contact between him and Diaz, which slowed them down). It would take hours for me to go through all of the examples of bad driving from last year and this year, but I'll stop there. And this isn't to say that he's totally at fault for every single incident, but I'll just say that there's typically a reason that certain cars tend to be the center of problems most of the time. Feel free to bash, move, or delete my post if it's improper, but I just couldn't help but drop in my outsider opinion.
For whoever cares, it ended up being 2 broken wires going into the horizontal positioning pot. Soldered them back in, put some silicone back on, and wire loomed the wiring so it shouldnt happen again. Working perfectly again!
So after hardly over a year of very light use, my G25 shifter has come down with the infamous gear hopping issue. Since it is out of warranty, I looked on ebay for replacement shifters but they're all gone. I have also opened the shifter up but it looks pristine inside with no loose connections or pinched/broken wires. I don't know where to go from here and could use some advice. I really don't have the money to spend on a new wheel setup. I hope the shifter works when i put it back together but I won't hold my breath.
Sounds great . Also, as with the headlight textures, don't worry about the Ford or Taurus emblems/logos either. I basically just don't want anything that changes the LFS cars' identities if that makes sense. Sorry if I'm being picky...but at least it's stuff that saves you work .
Hey guys I was wondering if someone would be willing to make me a skin for the XRG/XRT/XRR (well really, any car you feel like is also welcome...it's my favorite race car paint scheme so I'd use it a lot) based off of Matt Kenseth's old Carhartt paint scheme
I need to stop trying to race in leagues...I keep runnin the team leaders off . Hate to see you guys leave before even having a chance to race with yas
It's really refreshing to me to see game developers that have a very clear and crisp set of goals, update/interact with the users, and also take direct advice and suggestions straight off the forum. I was just looking at the latest patch threads and seeing all the "Thanks for [such and such] feature!" posts was just great as opposed to some other boards where fans are highly displeased with the developers' shenanigans. Props to the LFS dev team...can't wait to see what you guys have cookin'!
Very exciting news. Looks like there has been a lot more work done to LFS than any of us anticipated. Completely revamped physics, 2 new vehicles, and a brand new laser scanned track. Very impressive stuff guys, I'm looking forward to it.
Yeah I'm definitely bummed, especially after promising runs in GTAL and IGTC. Oh well, that's how things go sometimes. I'll be looking for another team now though.
