this is not the problem, the inertia is not related with the rotation speed but with the quick change in the direction.
if you try rFactor with the realFF plugin you will understand what i'm talking about.
it's like when you hit a kurb:
with the G25 you can feel the vivid angle of kurb;
with the 911wheel you think that kurb is flatter.
think at the Karussell at the Ring when you go inside your wheel is turned to left with the inclination and car weight but it needs to tells you (with the FF) the little jumps inside it.
with the G25 i can feel it, with the 911wheel i can't.
call it inertia, call it threshold filter but imho something is missing or lost around the quickest change in FF direction, the little input.
that doesn't mean that the rotaion is slow or the FF weak.
just to clarify: i drive always and only at 900° with 100% FF and other effects to ZERO.
nice to hear that and i know that is one of many reason, it was just my thought.
i didn't speak about that with the Logitech italian administrator.
I agree with Skills, if Fanatec can low the price this will be a good wheel to buy....300€ is too much imho, the G25 can be bought around 200€ in Italy at the moment.
at the end i think that the whole "inertia" problem is the electric motor, nothing else.
i think that also logitech had tried to use one motor instead of 2 in the first project of the G25, but 2 smaller motors are quicker to change direction then a big one with more torque.
a double belt system is more "elastic" then a geardriven wheel, so i thought that a single belt can give a more "RAW" feeling and reduce the inertia thing or "softness" of small FF inputs.
yeah i did the test of the wheel without power supply, it feel smooth but braked comparing to G25.
the electric motor, imho, is the real problem overall. it's like having (speaking as an audiophile) allways a white noise in the background of a powerfull system.
it can give you a lot of db power but if i want to hear a "piainissimo or piano" i can't hear it well.
i hope that you can understand what i mean.
BTW i like some technical solution and mechanical construction (as i wrote you in my email).
a really good start!
PS: can i suggest one thing? it's possible by software to disable the wheel leds? racing mostly during the night they are a little bit too bright.
i didn't weight the G25 steering wheel and the 911 but it can be a good comparison; also the bigger diameter help you to have more force to apply to the FF motor and the double belt doesn't improve the overall feeling.
a lighter and smaller wheel with a single belt, a good vertical and lower position, can be the solution for an highend wheel.
BTW i feel too that there's allways a springor damping effect on.
I own a G25 with Frex Pedals,so i can't make a good review about the pedals.
i found it normal, maybe a little bit easier to heel and toe.
BTW the wheel hardware are at the top, imho.
i think that the real problem is the angle and position of the wheel.
G25 is more straight and vertical, the 911 Turbo is more angled and it feels like the old Mini Minor wheel.
it's a great wheel for street cars, not for formulas.
an intersting thing to try, will be to put a lighter wheel (ala G25), because sometimes it feels a bit heavier and it smooth the little FF input; probably is the bigger elettric motor that has some inertia itself.
this is always in my opinion and i think that is a good start for Fanatec, just some tweaks to do to improve the product (i really don't like the H-shifter and its "clamp" system)
i don't know if was suggested but i think that a table with tyres temperature in the setup screen can be very helpfull as sometimes i can't remember live temp with F9 key.
also i think that gearing is too exetensive, i will like to see fixed gearing value, not continuos.
in real life you can choose only certain gear couple.
on the 4wd cars i think that FRONT TORQUE SPLIT can be difficult to understand
maybe something like that can be better:
Little example:
Can be easily understanding than a couple gived to front or not, we know that LSD differential when loosing grip they split couple in the opposite direction.
hope that in S3 i can put some custom cars....i'm waiting to put my real mazda 323 GTR on it, 3 Diff with central LSD, Turbo.
