Quote from MadCatX :A 2.6.32 is a rather old kernel and although I don't recall the history of changes that far back, a recent kernel might be worth a try.

Quote from slim.one :Hi, i haven't used the script in ages, so most likely it has done some (now) unwanted stuff (i.e. the udev rules won't be necessary anymore, you don't need G25manage and so on). As MadCatX said, right now all you should need is a recent kernel and wine > 1.3.17.

Thanks both. I decided to uninstall my old Mint/Debian, and go for a Debian Sid this time (keeping my home directory intact).

Just replaced the nouveau drivers with nvidia drivers, rebooted, clicked the handy LFS icon on the menu, and voila, perfect FFB in LFS :-D

Hi,
First of all, thanks for all the work gone into making LFS usable under linux! :-)

I've used the installer on this thread, with wine 1.3.37 instead, this is a Mint (Debian wheezy/sid variant), with Linux 2.6.32-5-686, with a G25.

However the FFB is not working correctly. It seems to be either full-force, or no force at all. Sometimes it's somewhere in between, but it definitely does not feel any similar to FFB on windows.

Any idea what to do to fix it? Please let me know if you need any more information.
Thanks in advance!

Quote from STenyaK :For the record, testing shadows in an ArchLinux distro:

-Gfx card: GeForce 8400 GS
-Nvidia drivers: 185.18.31
-Wine 1.1.27

Shadows look OK in both modes.

For another record, in a Gentoo distro:

-Gfx card: GeForce 8600 GT
-Nvidia drivers: 180.29
-Wine 1.1.12

Many glitches with standard shadows, including a segment of shadow always parallel to sun direction, and a segment of shadow always parallel to the vehicle, as well as rectangular car-sized shadow that disappears depending on where you drive over.
With test shadow mode, there's a proper shadow, as well as the 2 aforementioned segments of shadow.

There's not that much of correlation between age and behaviour; therefore i think it wouldn't be good to ban a game from people based on their age.
However, it would be intersting if some sort behaviour/crash counter was held for each driver, and each server owner could set a min/max range in order to limit what kind of people gets in there...

Or you simply take snapshots of the simulation state each 30 or 60seconds or whatever (depends on the amount of memory it eats).

When user asks to rewind, it reloads the last snapshot, closest to the desired point of rewinding, and then fastforwards the physics to the exact desired timestamp.

Quote from Kazu2799 :Drift with the new clutch is nice. I did about 20 laps with the xrg and i never overheated the clutch.

Which means you do not use the kick-clutch drift technique... i'm a crappy drifter so i use it often (more often than handbrake in fact).
I haven't tried though (broke a finger the other day so i've only been able to test the new patchs with keyboard ).

None of my close friends is named Christine, so no AI for her :-)

Is it impossible to turn off autoclutch with keyboard? If it is, then i'd call that a bug.

1- The same old texture corruption (pink-ish noise) bug in the real mirrors when alt-tabbing, then alt-tabbing back to lfs.
Edit: like this http://www.lfsforum.net/attach ... id=43987&d=1197412254

2- Pressing tab (in order to switch car) will reset the camera position relative to the car even if there's one car and therefore it didn't switch to another car. Easily noticeable if you donut a rwd in single player (no AIs) and keep tab pressed.

1- AI does not take into account car in front when in pitlane, only in raceline.

2- During one of those huge pit-in messes at mid-race, this car "Monica" was still refuelling when the 2 cars behind her tried to get out of the pitlane, but crashed into her and pushed her out to the raceline for a while.
"Monica" was still applying brakes and intermitently apparently still refueling.
Here's a picture of it (yellow car just managed to leave monica aside):

Quote from troob :I will like to see the ghost car and ideal line for training in LFS.

Follow a newbie AI or 2 for some laps, they do a pretty good line for starters.

Maybe the program autoupdate notice should be in main menu or some optiones menu, instead of multiplayer? I'm hotlapping these days (practicing with the g25 before i go online) so i couldn't find it until i came here and read where it is.

Really cool vid, loved it!

My suggestions are:
-Some crossfading for sound when camera changes.
-An outro, even if it only lasts 5-10 seconds: just put some music (like at the beginning).

In order to signal, you can use signaling lights (only in street cars, of course).

Well... it's just that.. if there are some stats, better if they actually show something useful.. right?

Uh.. sorry, I meant the "some online charts" section, for tracks and cars usage only (not "racer charts").
LFS World Stats, a bit meaningless?

Am i the only one who thinks that "some online charts" should be based on time, not on distance? Currently it's obvious that fast cars/tracks are more likely to appear in top positions, even if they're not the most popular ones (as in "more people drive them" and "people drive them for more time"), so it's a bit meaningless IMO.
