To clarify I'm talking about a basic rallycross car like XFG: race car with rollcage, no ABS, no brake assistance or safety features
@luki97
You are right when talking about complex physics, but as in all computer games/simulations everything is calculated by simplified formulas - the real world is too complex.
The basic formula for FWD: throtteling front wheels will keep them spinning/accelerated even when braking (at the same time). The rear tyres will be deaccelerated (getting lighter). The center of gravity will change, bumpers in front will go down, beginning to oversteer.
But you are right, there are some other points in the game that should be finished first. A more realistic gravel simulation would make the game more competitive and fun.
@Bose321
> Why would you brake and give throttle at the same time?
to bring it to oversteer on gravel
> And no, I won't brake with my left foot, unless it's a car without manual clutch...
I'm talking about race cars not stock Audi. ex. Fomula 1 using left foot braking, right trottle at high speed on tarmac and they will corner fast.
Hi there,
on my experience of driving of front wheel driven car on gravel it seems a bit unrealistic when cornering: Usually when cornering on gravel you'll feel that the car will have the tendency to understeer. To avoid or correct that in a real car, you will hit the brake with the left foot and while still engaging throttle. The car begins to overversteer. Driving this way you'll be able to drive a corner with much higher speed.
hi,
does anybody out there have problems running a lfs host on win2k3 server?
in my case the server is starting up fine and appers also on the serverlist. but when connecting to this host, i've got an client connect error.
the windows firewall and router port setup seems to be ok = tested with telnet. but the client error sounds like this. i dont know.
maybe there is another security option to setup on win2k3? i'm not familar with that O/S.
pushing it to top. any of the game developers, please have a look at this thread. ---- got it running fine over udp network on another computer. I'm almostfinished with development yet. but can't use it
the game crashes when usb io controller iowarrior-56 (http://www.codemercs.com/IOWarriorE.html) is connected to the computer. deb.txt shows no remarkable notices.
problem description:
when the usb controller is connected, the game (latest S2, licensed) crashes with access violation on startup. when plugging in while the game is running, it causes a crash too. think there is maybe something wrong on game controller initialization (but the controller itself does not appear as gaming device - just an idea).
tested on win2000. winxp test will follow.
edit: winxp too: game crashes w/ contoller on startup. plugging in while game is running works better, i'm able to drive but crashing on alt+tab or changing window focus in windowed mode.
would be nice to hear from you. i want to use my external outgauge display
thank you!

PS:
other directx/opengl games operate normal
PPS:
maybe just ignoring the productid of this controller:
/// constant for the ProductId of an IOWarrior56
public static final long PID_IOW56 = 0x1503L;
