Having had a look at the rules and this is what it says:
I hate to be picky but my understanding of "during" is while the session is running, and I agree, that makes sense as it distracts the runners. Still, from what I gather "during" does not mean "in between the sessions", does it...? If you want to enforce that rule then at least clarify it...
I *think* you will receive five points just for attending Qualifying, whether you actually take part in the race or not... But better get confirmation from Yann about that.
I can't see why the addition of the Speedweeks 400 makes the Kyoto 500 any less attractive. It's still "the 500", the most prestigious open-wheel race of LFS (due to the tough competition, even tougher Quali procedure, the distance, the glory, etc.), and as it has been pointed out, some practice can't do any harm. Plus it fits nicely in the Speedweeks concept (Speedweeks 400, possibly FOX Speedweeks 250 and finally the Kyoto 500), two weeks dedicated entirely to Oval racing.
I personally like the schedule, good selection of tracks, and the distribution (3/6) resembles the actual IndyCar calendar. Just a bit disappointed that FE Black was dropped in favour of FE Gold, will be a bit difficult to drive with these big and heavy cars, but well, we gotta deal with it.
The FIA GT idea is interesting, as long as it is executed properly. I.e. stick with the real-life rules (2x60min races, mandatory driver change) so that it doesn't turn into a copy/tweak of the many GT leagues we already have.
I've read about the PCC and the idea to make it as realistic as possible (such as by the means of limited setups), as far as I know also a unique concept to LFS which could attract interest.
Furthermore, one-off events could be the key to attract the casual racer, those who don't want to commit to a full season and still don't want to miss out on good competition. Kyoto 150 sounds definitely like a concept I'd like to be part of, for instance.
Plus, what's happened to LFSCART Light? Has it been completely dropped or just temporarily suspended? From what I remember, it attracted crowded grids (at least on road/street circuits; pre-Qualifying was necessary until the final road course event), if we get rid off the Twin races @ Autocross it actually was a great concept, as FOX offered some good racing and the sprint/feature race format added to the show.
What kind of team are you looking for? Race Age: 26 Country: Germany Preferred Car/Track: Preferring open-wheel but racing pretty much anything Average Laptime on Your Preferred Car/Track: Probably within 101-102% of the WR on most circuits How Active Are You: Mostly weekends What Kind of Control do you use: Wheel Time Zone: GMT+1
What a race, an amazing finish. Even though I had Seb's draft, I couldn't quite use it because I had Ramon on the outside and didn't want to collide on the final lap. You race 270 laps, 500 miles, and in the end, 0.009 seconds make the difference between the Top3.
I am pretty delighted with the podium, if this was the Kyoto 498 I might have won it. Nevertheless, very well done on the win Seb and Ramon on 2nd, you two deserved it. I feel a bit sad for JJ and Oscar, who should've been in the Top-5 as well, timing out from the lead (both of them) is harsh. :/
Thanks to the admins, the commentary team and the other racers, it's been a clean Kyoto 500 (apart from a few exceptions) from my point of view, I thoroughly enjoyed participating.
Thanks to Spencer for bringing out the caution in the Sprint Race, I owe you one! Seriously, I feel a bit sorry for JJ (for being caught up behind the SC going into pitlane) and Dennis though.
Racing was pretty enjoyable at the top, judging by the responses, there has obviously been quite some mayhem further down. Thanks to all the drivers and the admins.
From my point of view JJ appears to have lost his rear end on the high side and straight comes down into my direction. I backed off to avoid hitting JJ, and then the chaos emerged behind me... Not much more I could do, sorry for your DNF though.
I'd like to apologise for sending you into a spin mid-race, Kevin, that was a bit harsh.
Apart from that, nice and clean racing, really enjoyed it! Well done everyone.
Sorry Lims, but there was nothing I could do. Had to leave some space on the inside as one of the FM guys was trying to pass me... and you just happened to be there on the outside.
