Quote from pärtan :Really nice You need to mount the pedals the right way though

I would if the pedal arms were longer and slightly curved so that the pedal moves away from me in a relatively straight line and not curve as much as they do if you reverse-mount them. I am however thinking of getting rid of the plastic case and hardmount the rails to the metal plate for added stiffness, plus getting the spacing between the brake and throttle right

Small update:

Ever tried using the G25 as a handbrake in sequential mode? Well I use it like that and it tends to get stuck since it plops down into the base in the heat of the action, also it doesn't have enough spring action for my taste.

Problem solved!

Small update: I got my hands on a 206 RC seat dirt cheap, so out with the old and in with the new!

It looks flat when sit in the chair, this picture was taken from above the seat so the angle of the outer screens tilts the view

The sdk for symbian s60v5 on nokias website has an emulator in it as far as i know so get crackin! Nah jk but seriously, it would be much appreciated if you could take a gander at that when you have the time all i want is gear indicator and shift light, everything else takes up too much room on the small display on our phones

I would absolutely LOVE to get a gear indicator + shift light working on my n97, the awesomeness of it would be of biblical proportions!

Quote from Gunn :I can't increase the braking power of my real handbrake. Yes it can be adjusted to work better, but that doesn't make it any stronger. The handbrake in LFS seems to take too long to activate though.

I totally agree that the e-brake takes too long, and it's because we can't control the analogue smoothing enough. I'd like to see an option making the e-brake input from a digital key instant instead of the annoying smoothing. I am considering buying a frex e-brake, and since it operates as an on/off switch and not an analogue axis, I want the damn thing to be instant

Getting dedicated server + Client + Pitspotter to work with commandline? [solved]
HWX_eXcluded

My situation is as follows: I run a dedicated server in nogfx-mode on port 63392, and I want to connect to it on the same computer with lfs.exe and use pitspotter with it.

If I don't have the dedicated server on, I get pitspotter to work by starting lfs through pitspotter with the "autorunLFS=1" setting in pitspotter's config.cfg, it states "Autorun enabled, launching LFS.exe... done." and LFS kicks in. But if the dedicated server is on, the Pitspotter program doesn't start LFS

I know that I can start pitpotter with "autorunLFS=0" instead, and then start lfs.exe manually, but then I'd have to type /insim 29999 ingame afterwards for it to connect to pitspotter, and it's a bit too much clicking and typing to get something to work for my taste. (Optimization is what I live for!)

So with all that hooplaah said and done, is there a way for me to get pitspotter and lfs.exe to communicate with each other automatically, like launching them from a .bat file or something, while running a dedicated server on the same machine?

Quote from mind_crash :i get the message above have tried everything i can think of....noy even S1 runs anymore!!! all other games work fine have tried latest drivers for card and older ones all no help!!!! please help i was racing fine last night!!

A friend of mine had the same problem, and even though he uninstalled/reinstalled his graphics drivers it didn't help. What DID help him though, was to go through the direct3D-tests in dxdiag.exe, you might want to try that. Just press start->run in windows xp and type in dxdiag and press enter. I hope it'll work out for you m8, it's terrible when someone can't drive in lfs even though they want to heh

Computer specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice @ 3500+ speed
Asus A8N SLI Deluxe
1GB A-Data PC3200 DDR @ most aggressive timings
GF 6600GT PCIe
SB Audigy 2 Platinum hooked to Megaworks 550THX 5.1 system
19" Panasync monitor playing LFS @ 1600x1200 resolution

Raceframe built out of 40mm square tubing, with an OMP race seat and a slightly modded Logitech Driving Force Pro (aluminium hub extension to get the wheel further away from the base unit to leave room for paddles later on, and stiffened brake springs in the pedalbase).

Oh and a fresnel lens surrounded by a ghettostyle cut-out hood to minimize reflections :P

I use an OMP racing seat buckled into my raceframe, can't ask for a better driving position really

Quote from SladiVadi :You'd need some cool input devices!
:moped::bananalla

I have the Thrustmaster Freestyle bike handlebars, but they have a big center deadzone and shared axis on the throttle/brake, so that's not of much use for simulations. It's a blast using it in Star Wars Episode 1 Pod racer though!!! And in Midnight Club II, with the bikes (Most fun arcade action I've had on 2 wheels since.. well forever)

There it is Mine doesn't have as much reflections in the center hub as this one, I can't make up my mind which one looks better :P The bad thing about having reflexctions in a texture like that is that it spins around when you turn the wheel, which looks... well kinda odd.

"Of course, I love it so much, I wouldn't care if it was fuzzy and pink and said "hello kitty" hehe yeah I feel the same way, especially now that I have the newer revision pedal set with the better pots I posted some pics of it on RSC

Elevation Lads, Elevation!!

It's not so much a request for a new car, but a track: A track with more elevation changes so that you'd have to lift off the throttle not to go airborn too much. Imagine a track placed at a mountain, with first half of the race going mainly uphill but with some brief downhill stints, some really tight corners mixed with slightly wider, banked curves. And once you're through the first half, let the downhill begin!!! massive slopes with sharp bends, varied banking and radius.. it would be intense. I can see the need for driving strategically, keeping tires in check because of haaard downhill braking that pushes the car It would also show a bigger difference in weight of the cars. more powerful but heavy cars will do the climb a bit better, and have higher speed in the downhill, but will have to brake a lot earlier because of their weight.. Gah I want it.

I set a custom2 view for each car, with the POV closer to the dash than in normal cockpit view, close enough so that I can just barely see the base part of the A-pillar, with a FOV of around 100. This sets my steering wheel in a realistic distance from the dash instead of the normal cockpit view, in which you have to use a too low FOV to get the same position. The downside is that the custom views always have wheel+driver 3D objects activated, so you have to place the POV exactly where my wheel covers the animated wheel
