I got mixed feelings tbh. I feel bad that two people died in such a horrible way but when faced with the death of a reckless celebrity who became famous by putting himself in deliberate danger for no good reason in a kind of way that to me is like mocking life,... you can say he got what he deserved. At this time i can't help but remember all of the many innocent people including children that didn't mock life but have had their lives stolen as a result of the wars based on lies that my government has waged alongside the US government. The media also did a good Job of dehumanizing and stigmatizing a particular group of people as terrorists to lower them to a sub human level, so that us tax payers would continue to fund and support these wars of theft and murder against them, under the guise of spreading freedom and combating terrorism. This is relevant to me because the very same Television media bombards me with the ethics and values that i am supposed to have including worshiping retarded celebrities that swim in sh@t, whilst ignoring the "collateral damage" of war and lies of politicians. I guess many fellow LFS'ers will disagree with what i am saying, or maybe some just won't see it as relevant, but i hope you all can at least try to understand my protest.
Can you please make the crash physics like "Rig of Rods", an open source physics based car, truck, boat, and aeroplane simulator which i am sure you are aware of. It has Soft body physics. the best crash physics i have ever seen.
edit: I know this kind of damage simulation is heavy on the processor and FPS for those with slower machines, but to have it available as an option would be good.
i am not hear to complain or anything, i just wanted to ask could you give us a very very short progress update, just a few words so we know lfs is still alive. I appreciate you have lives to live, bills to pay and maybe kids to feed, that's cool we understand. I don't care how long it takes, i also would prefer a quality product to a quickly released one. The reason why people on the forums are getting restless is simple LFS is good really good. and potentially could be even better, but we have been left in the dark. Anyway, i wish you all the best whether you choose to update us or not
Steam is the New world order manifest in gaming..lol , no thanks not for me. I would rather fund a 3 man dev team than to give any percentage of my money to the man!
But attracting more racers to lfs would be good so the dev's have more funds to throw at the sim. Maybe we could all do a bit of virtual advertising by making lfs skins for cars in rfactor or make some tracks with lfs advertisement's everywhere..hehe
Live and race Free my freinds.... and say no to steam:banana:
:huepfenic
WoW that looks great! so you actually have a set price for each repair, does it cover every type of damage that lfs has?
how do you earn credits , i guess it's like the f1 point's system right?
Does it have damage memory, so the damage on the car stay's permanently until you repair it, i mean like even when you exit the game and restart it?
it can't hurt to put in an optional career mode, credit's system and damage memory, can it?...
Imagine writing off the car completely and having to save up credit's to buy a new one
or maybe after a crash due to low funds only being able to repair the car mechanically and having to enter races with cosmetic damage and duct tape holding on your bumpers..hehe, thats how it was with some cars at the track when i worked for a small racing team. people would do anything to stay in the race.
What do you guy's think of the damage in gta4, imo it's brilliant, i wish lfs damage is like this or better one day, of course physics comes first but after that.....
I think it would be cool if the damage you pick up on the car is remembered, so if you
total your car that's it until you repair it. And it would be a nice touch if you could
also see that damage in the menu or pit's or wherever the car is visible outside the
race. It would be cool if the damage had a real world cost of repair depending on what
it was , suspension, cosmetic, engine etc..... But i guess the only way to do it is by
introducing a credit or point's system so you had to spend credit's to repair it, and i can't see it
being useful without a career mode...which i can imagine most will hate.
just an initial idea guy's, im sure somebody can improve on that
Expensive subscription + Not really owning anything = Nah no thanks :/
Anyway arguably the lfs physics engine is just as good if not better. We just need laser scanned tracks or tracks with more bumps and personality to improve the driving feel further. this will bring out the best from lfs. As for mods I agree that if moding is introduced there will be a random quality of mods, but if the community rate and recommend mods to others, then for me theres no problem with mods. Ultimately this is what can send lfs in to the stratosphere, Look at some of the better mods for example in rfactor or RBR, there amazing. also there must be a way to stop the online matching of mods issue i have heard people talk about as an argument against mods.
Just putting some ideas out there guys, imagination is key
Holographic projection, holodeck style projection
an advanced version of our latest 3d technology
Advanced simulations that take cad data from vehicle manufacturers and simulate every single part of the car with 100% accuracy, i think manufacturers currently do this for some test purposes.
I was aiming to compete in the v1 championship if it is still on, but if i am disadvantage because i am using a g25 what can i do?. Im not going to use a mouse while i have g25. I have asked many people that have been fast on the servers i race on, what are they using and it's always the damn mouse, if something can be done, it should :/
In the Front engine rear wheel drive category, i would like to see something lightweight and of the solid rear axle type, as opposed to independent rear suspension. they are soooooooooo much fun to drive and very intuitive and makes you feel very much apart of the car. so i would have to vote for....
Since Karts are the starting point for most successful racing drivers and where a lot of their race craft is learn't it makes sense to include them. because racing kart's have a limited setup It would also be a good starting point to learn setup of a racing vehicle, it will help people to learn the importance and effects of even subtle changes in tyre pressure. it makes sense to include KART's preferably 125cc rotax kart's, oh and of course a nice Kart track
[QUOTE=amp88;1423616]A wind tunnel wouldn't show all forces acting on the car.
I wasn't talking about showing something as useless as just air flowing over the body on it's own but instead an all in one live visualization of all forces including downforce/drag, live suspension geometry and whatever else can be thrown in to the mix like g forces, in a single visualization of the vehicle as a simulation is run so we can observe in real time the relationships between these things and how they effect each other, so for example you can actually see the suspension being pushed down by the d/force and thus anticipate how to setup each individual part of the car and make changes as the simulation plays out, because yes downforce does effect how you setup suspension, tyre pressures and maybe as a side effect other things i'm missing. I think it is feasible to run a simulation like this in the garage because the physics engine is running this simulation when you drive anyway, the numbers are all there, is it that hard to add some extra graphics to it? the extra forces could be added to the existing graphic that shows the vehicle in front and side view and next to it the suspension geometry. Don't take it personal guys I'm just playing devils advocate here because this idea was written off a little to quickly in my opinion without exploring and debating what it could be useful for, but admittedly i'm not that clued up on the subject to defend this wind tunnel idea or a variation of it. The phrase wind tunnel is only a starting point ,would be nice if anybody else could throw in some ideas to the mix. But hey if the majority think this idea is useless or not feasible then let that be the end of it... sorry to ramble on ..hehe
I just think it could be a visual aid to help us have a better understanding of what combination of forces are being applied to the vehicle and there relationships with each other, the more information the better, numerical, visual, whatever. It's no different from the visualization of the suspension geometry that shows you live changes as you make adjustments to camber, toe, castor, ackerman, ride height etc. Since all settings are linked and you can't change one without effecting another it would be valuable to see them all working together. Imagine being able to see all the forces that are in action as a vehicle is put through a simulation of a lap where every force can be seen and while thats happening you can make live changes to any setting and see what effects it has on other areas of the car, like the relationship between downforce and suspension and how it effects the pitch and balance of the chassis, as a side effect ride height changes would be important to look at as the ride height can cause air pressure changes under the car effecting the ground effect/down force. of course the presentation of such a analysis system would be important, it would have to be bold and simple enough to read and this is where the visualisation of downforce and drag and there relationships to other things is better than just numbers alone. ok maybe it's not an absolute necessity and I don't know that much about aero or chassis but i suspect the wind tunnel could be useful in some way for those that know more than me.
I really like this idea. It would be great if the drag was highlighted as a color like red, It would make the setup a touch easier and quicker if we could visually see the air flow and highlight the amount of drag
Hi, I think it would be great to have text information pop up or scroll across when you hover the mouse over a button, for a vehicle setting or also for game options. If i remember correctly Gran turismo does this in both car setup and options menu. I think it would make the learning curve easier for newcomers and increase efficiency and speed of setup even for the hard core racers.
It would be great to have a detailed explanations of the effects of a setting on the cars handling, its pro's and con's and how it may be related to and effect other settings. It just makes things a touch easier because not everybody will know things like what parallel steer is or what effect the preload has on the lsd, or that camber changes with ride height, not to mention all the other geometry that changes when you adjust something like Castor. or in the controls options not everybody will know what the wheel turn compensation does. So does anybody support this??
