I guess this is why they set the fuel amount in percent % instead of liters/gallons, so that the consumption will be somewhat similar. I bet the UF1 uses less than 1/10 of what the BF1 uses on one lap at BL GP measured in liters/gallons, but in % you wouldn't have to change the setting too much. Bad example maybe, but I think it makes sense.

One given car uses 0,8% of a 40 litre tank on one lap, and another given car uses 1,1% of a 100 litre tank. Set it to 20% like Bob does and you won't have to change a thing when you switch cars.

I would take the saw from him and tell him to jump on it instead. A broken plank and some wet clothes, maybe a bloody knee isn't dangerous, but landing on a saw? Come on. Way to castrate your boy before puberty.

I've signed up for a month of iRacing now as well, and wow. I had no idea modeling the bumps and other formations on the track could do so much for immersion and excitement. The more people who try iRacing, the more LFS has to consider modeling bumps etc on tracks for S3. This is obviously something that has been left out for too long from racing sims.

In LFS, a high speed corner is always the same as long as the tire temps are appr. the same and the setup and car is the same. In iRacing, if you take a corner right on the limit, a small bump in the road can send you out of control onto the grass where there is no friction at all, and smashing into the wall, making the car undrivable and giving you a juicy reduction in safety rating. Driving fast on the limit has never been more exciting, IMO. I will not abandon LFS, but iRacing definitely got something going for it.

CTRA rules say "Always two wheels within the white line". Correct? At least I think so.

edit: I can't find it on their site now. Maybe I read it somewhere else, but I'm positive I read it in someones rules.

They don't even work. Just drink a liter or two of coca cola, instead of 0,25L of red bull and at least it tastes better! It's a myth that sugar makes you hyper, but it's completely true that it makes you tired and slow after the blood sugar drops again. And that happens fast. Energy drinks are mostly sugar anyway.

I do the red line frequently, after switching cars or practicing new cars. But never on purpose really. When you come along the outside really fast, you have to know by heart when to turn in for then downhill chicane. Upwards, no problem, but downhill you can't see the apex so you have to guess when going fast. I'm annoyed everytime a tire hits grass, because the saved time doesn't compensate for lost grip, if you ask me.

As you can see from the red and green racing line, it's hard and/or dangerous to change lines once you notice you're gonna miss the red one and hit grass, so you'll really just have to try going as straight as possible so you won't spin and be a hazard for the cars behind you. I don't doubt that some people exploit this and keep a higher speed, but personally I keep the speed low enough for the green line and sometimes end up on the red one anyway. I think the saved time then is little or nothing.

But stock suspension can't be modified in any way, can it? With a Bilstein PSS9 or KW var3 you can modify the height, damping and rebound, I think. I might mix it up, as I don't know the english words for all the settings. But height and stiffness on the PSS9 and KW var 3 has rebound speed (?) as well, I think.

My 17" summer season tyres are worn out, and when I buy new ones, I will buy 18". I've tried both and I feel a clear difference in steering response. Less rubber to bend around, I guess. When/if I buy the PSS9 as well, I can modify it to suit the new weight, right? It might not be any extra weight at all. The 17" solid Audi OEM wheels are probably heavier than 18" OZ Superturismo GT. I'm not in the group that knows, but in the one that cares. I'll put it away to a professional for adjustments if I have to.

Quote from Burnzoire :GT and Fz are not in the same class... I don't care how much effort they reportedly put into their car's handling, it's all fluff and feels like rubbish. Forza was refreshingly nice to drive, even with a controller.

As far as wheels go, well it was your choice to go spend a fortune on a PC only wheel. Don't judge a game on whether it can or can't work with it.

I assume that was for me. Yes it was my choice to spend a "fortune"(?) on the best wheel available, and it works perfectly well on every game on both PC and PS2/PS3. But not with the X360 which only works with it's own special wheels. So, I was not judging Forza 2, which looks like a great game, I was judging the X360 for supporting only their own products.

EOD? I brought this offtopic, and it's ontopic again for all I care. I just wanted to confirm that Forza 2 is X360 exclusive, and if the game is still fun with only the controller or the X360 wheels.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :More rather, wasn't the DFGT designed for GT5P since it was released before the DFGT was?

You are correct, sir. GT5p doesn't have a profile for the G25, as it does for the DFP and DFGT, but if you use the DFP profile, it works top notch. Only disappointment is on/off clutch.

Quote from MAD3.0LT :im a little curious have u ever moded a car befor for performance or track or drifting??? cause basicly what you have said is ANY car that is change from stock form is RICE

so in ur opnion even F1 cars are RICE cause they have fully sick wings and shizat

Even though I don't complete agree with mr. cliffe, I have to say it seems you are misunderstanding on purpose. He clearly said "road cars". F1 teams do the extreme opposite of road car makers. They continually change and develop a "car", if you can call it that, for winning races on track. A road car is manufactured by a certain standard for daily road use.

VW, Honda or whatever brand, lowers the intial cost by not using pro spec parts. That's why we have aftermarket parts for those who would like a little more edge on their everyday car.

edit: a little late.

Of course, I see your point very well. Most people who replace their springs etc do it to lower their cars, and that purely for esthetics. They buy the cheapest and lowest set they can lay their hands on. But I'm positive that if you spend enough money on a part, and make sure to do the needed adjustments afterwards, then it can only be a good thing. If you can get the car closer to what you really want, and money is the only barrier, then go ahead and spend money. As we all know, 2nd hand cars are never like we really want them, and spending money on better parts to outweight the disadvantages is just a matter of wallet size and motivation, if you ask me.

Rice, to me, is a term describing exaggerated exterior styling. When considering aftermarket performance parts, I trust the other members in my car club when they say how it works and if it's worth it. That's one of the pros of being in a large car club, where there is always someone else with the same car as you who have done the same modifications you plan to do. I will, for instance, install a Bilstein PSS9 suspension set this spring, after strong recommendations, and a few test runs. The ride was not harsher, in fact it was more comfortable on straights and stiffer in corners. But then it's not a £500 set, it's more a £1500 set. If that makes me a ricer, then I'm a happy ricer. Keeping the advantages I bought the car for, and removing one of the disadvantages; handling like a boat. Also, the Norwegian car authorities makes sure you are heavily fined if you cannot prove that you have made the necessary adjustments to wheel settings etc after installing a new suspension. All changes have to be registrered in the cars spec papers, and for that you need proof that a professional has checked the settings and made correct adjustments.

My conclusion; if you put enough research and money into an upgrade, and you weight the consequences on beforehand, an upgrade is rarely a bad thing. Just don't buy the first and coolest sounding thing the salesman tells you to buy without consulting previous owners and experts. Replacing the car in a better handling one, will remove another one of the advantages I bought the original car for. Give me both, please.

So Tristan, the way you put this, I understand your definition of "rice" is not necessarily bad? I mean, how would a suspension change for better handling, be a bad thing? The reason people buy sports cars for road use is to be entertained, right? Good handling, quick accelleration, and good stopping power. In other words, a dynamic car. I agree about the neon lighted jet washers, but you can't seriously mean a better suspension and brake kit upgrade is a bad thing, if you really like driving.

Like I feared. GT5p is also designed for the gamepad, I guess, and it worked OK while I played the GT HD demo, but as soon as GT5p was released I bought my Playseat Evolution and the G25 and it's a world of difference really. I know this isn't the place to compare GT5 vs F2, but my point is that GT5p was really a whole lot better with a wheel than with the pad. Much more difficult, in a good way. Almost like switching from mouse to wheel in LFS. GT5 final will come with a full damage model (at least cosmetic, as far as I know. Check gtplanet.com for more) and will include the nürburgring and several times more cars. Then it's ready for contest!

And btw, the multiplayer in GT5p sucks. At least the last time I tried it, 4-5 months ago. Connecting to random servers with bad ping, random placement in the grid it seems, really bad punishment system for bumping, wipeouts, wrecking etc. LFS will always be victorious in physics and multiplayer. If LFS had the graphics and the sound of GT5 as well, and some real life tracks, I would buy a hydraulic racing seat, frex wheel/pedals and lock my door and stay inside forever

Forza is Xbox only right? 360? I got the impression that Xbox doesn't support any really good wheels, like G25. So is it any fun then? From the screens and all the bragging, I get the feeling this is better than GT5: p, but not as long as I can't use my G25 on it.

Quote from Becky Rose :The implication is a question asked by the son of the rider where 'she' is the motorbike.

Ah, of course. I didn't get it the first time. And the father's answer was "I just might show you, since it looks like it's going to rain and that's a good excuse for speeding back home!"

The way I read it, he claims he went faster because it started to rain. To get home fast before the ground gets really wet probably.

Quote :Robert Bennett opened the throttle on his 1300cc Suzuki because it started to rain, Exeter Crown Court was told.

And btw, what does the thread title mean? "What will she do daddy"?

I don't remember the first few games, but the first and biggest one was NFS 1 the original. It was amazing running from the cops in a Diablo. I bought NFS 2 as soon as it arrived in 97 and it was even more amazing. Slightly better physics, so you could wipeout your competition and the McLaren F1 was amazingly cool.

ATI Radeon 3870 X2 HD... or something. Good power, but I hate that I can't switch primary monitor when I have my TV connected. Every time I want to get up from my desk and start LFS on the TV, I have to manually switch primaries by turning them off one by one and extending the desktop once again with the TV first. Clone obviously won't work because my TV is 1920x1080 pixles and the small 22" monitor is 1680x1050. Also, the game only starts on the primary monitor, even in clone mode.

All the X-Fi settings and crystalizer stuff are turned off by default on my X-Fi Extreme-something. I run an optical cable from the soundcard to my amp and it sounds OK, in my opinion. I play FLAC-files with Winamp. But I'm no expert on signal processing really. I'm not sure of the advantages/disadvantages 44kHz and 48kHz have over each other, or 88kHz or whatever.

A worthwhile tip though, for those who play music on their stereo with their pc as source. Use your amp when you want to play loud, and let it do the work. Don't juice out full power from your sound card. I usually have a low fixed volume setting on my PC and adjust the final result as I please on my amp. Because a €800 dedicated amp is probably of better quality than your €80 sound card.

Quote from Jertje :I have a €5,- soundcard (only because on-board didn't function properly!) and a €12,99 headset. Is this good enough? yes/no.

Yes. That's plenty.

Btw, how long is a rope?

edit: In case you didn't deserve sarcasm, my real answer is that it depends on your needs. But I assumed it was a semi-joke since you said a €5 soundcard. €50 will probably get you somwhere. Soundblaster Audigy and X-Fi cards are good.

I don't think I'm an audiophile, but I require good sound quality to enjoy music. And also high bitrate music files or CDs. For portability I have a Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80ohm. For my stereo I have two Klipsch RF-62 speakers and a cheap, but effective, 12" active subwoofer with freq. cut at 40Hz, so it's really only active in movies. My amp is a NAD, 4-5 years old. Can't remember the model right now, but it's a 5.2 surround amp (5x50w) bridged to 2x100w stereo.

This 2.1 system is not very expensive, but the value for money is incredible. NAD+Klipsch is a great combination for both movies, games and all sorts of music, from eletronic to metal and classical. Put a 40" Samsung M86 LCD in the middle of the speakers, and a racing seat with G25 right in front of the screen and you have my cockpit.

Not the FO8 or FOX? Strange. Do they have seq. sticks? Anyway, this is offtopic I guess. I use the sequential stick on my G25 when driving the XRR, as I often do.
