I would go for the lapped driver NOT allowed to help other cars he is lap(s) behind as defence for your case.
It's easy to see that easing the throttle and 'wait' for someone to work with, is commonly used, but you're not allowed to let a driver go all way round to catch up with you to work with. Lapped drivers stay 'out of' the battle between forerunners ?
But he might have been paid to do so ?

Knowing a little about what material you had to work with, I'm even more amazed.
The crowd singing I tried to collect voices for, only consisted of 4 files - maybe 5 if you used 2 of hrtburnouts 3 files. I thought it not possible to achieve something really good from this, but you did it.

MP3 Astra just send me the new version of the song ( *I Wanna Live For Speed* - working tittle: LFS Rockstar ) and I must say it came out pretty good. So good, in fact, that I'm having second thoughts about MY part in it, as I do the backup music. It's not up to the songs standard after this remake !
I have not yet permission to give out file from Michael ( he's skow to respond to mails and such - LOL ) and frankly I'd rather see something changed in backup music before 'releasing' it.
Look foreward to this, guys - a new ending is made, and you'll love it !!!
