Quote from PMD9409 :It's clearly rFactor Pro, look at the display that shows the laptime at the very end of the video.

Nice catch!

To me it did look like a "Pro" version of LFS. Something about the graphics, frame rate, rendering... anway..I wish I could know for sure.

I can see how it could be a one-off just for Williams, but even with that kind of money why start from scratch with so many top-notch off-the-shelf offerings these days?

Anyway, thanks for chiming in folks. I was really hoping this was like an LFS Pro or something. I haven't seen rFactor Pro (but rfactor2 is in the works!).

How can you tell?

And if not, then what sim is it?
Is this LFS being used for F1 sim?

Looks a lot like LFS. I also see the now defunct Simtools' Simview (gauges on the right-most monitor) and other familiar toys in their nest (AIM and MoTec analyzers, etc, just like many of us use).

I should have gotten into commercial sim building when the franchise was still fresh.

Ya I was confused for a second... I didn't think I said 200 miles anywhere. lol

So, any takers? Our server is top-notch. UK usually pings 100-120, Australia 160-200 tops. Should be a smooth run.

Race Notes/Rules
-This race is intended for everyone but please consider your own personal skill level. If you are not a "front runner" then please do feel free to join but intend on yielding as much as possible to avoid causing race incidents.

-Eagles race with respect and honor safe racing behavior at all times. We expect the same of those who join our server. We want to race with the kind of folks who understand that there is no checkered flag after the first turn, and who know when to lift for safety's sake rather than pushing a risky position.

-All participants must follow the race moderators' instructions. To facilitate this we are requiring that all participants join our Ventrilo communications channel. You are not required to speak (unless you want to! we are friendly folks). However you must be able to listen to the moderator communications and then respond via keyboard as needed.

-No restarts will be allowed. For this reason the entire race from Practice through Victory Lane celebration will be moderated. Wreckers will be banned instantly, as this notice serves as the first and final warning for violations. The objective is to provide a fun, immersive, and naturally flowing race that everyone can enjoy without marring the experience with the unrealism created by wreckers and racing drivers with poor etiquette.

-The event may be completed by individuals or teams. This means that you can choose to complete the entire race yourself or you can team with a partner or partners and develop a driver change strategy. You can choose to initiate driver changes at any time. For example, one driver can qualify and another two could take turns participating in the race. Or any other combination therein. You MUST determine whom within your team will be driving each stint and include that information in your race entry submission.

-Qualification will be held using a 2-car time trial format. Two drivers will be allowed on-track at any given time, with the order of qualification determined by the race moderator. Spectators will be able to watch as you complete a 3 lap qualification (one out lap, one hot lap, and one cool-down lap for pit re-entry).

-All flags, pit speed limits, and pit entry/exit procedures must be followed. When you exit the pit you must not enter the racing surface until you are flat on the back-straight. Similarly when you enter the pit you must use the back-straight as your entry point. Violators will be banned. Please ask the race moderator at any time if you have questions.

-If you wreck during the qualification and your car is still driveable you may complete the remainder of your 3 laps.

-If you wreck during the race and there is ZERO possibility of your vehicle causing an incident AND you are able to safely control the car to pull off-track. then you may remain in the event and safely re-enter the track when possible.

-If there is the any possibility of your incident impacting another driver then you must immediately use Shift-P to return to the pit. Once back in the pit you may then re-enter the race. Violators will be banned.

-Standing/sitting on the track is not permitted at any time. Not even during practice, and especially not during the race. This includes any and all area of the track (pits, racing surface, grass, etc.). Violators will be banned.

-Blocking is not allowed at any time during the race.

-Bump drafting is allowed at your own risk.

-No flaming or abusive language of any kind will be tolerated.

Have fun, be safe, and most of all be courtious!

Outsim/Outgauge

Has something changed about the way outgauge and outsim are reported from LFS as of patch z? My third-party gear (eg. Frex) which has worked for every version of LFS does not work for patch Z.

Is there anything I need to set up differently in my .cfg now?

Thx

I would definitely be interested in a full dash kit. I'd recommend offering a basic kit, with upgrades and add-on gauges that are easily integrated. That way you can most folks just what they need, and then others can go as far as they wish. Then of course some entry-level buyers will eventually want to expand, and move up to the add-ons as well.

I was talking to a commercial sim aviation gauge company (will remain nameless) about doing automotive gauges as well. They seemed really interested but after I went into fair detail of what people would want, how it should be delivered, and what sims it needed to support, I didn't hear back. So either they went straight to it or thought it was too much trouble. Wish they would have responded either way though.

I have plans for a full sim-pit. Projector, motion seat, etc. A dash kit would be perfect. And even with my desk-based setup now, I would still very much want a dashboard kit.

Please keep us informed!

No problems Dustin. Do what you can, but above all take care of your health. There will be many more events to come!

Folks: Please take an opportunity to log into our Event Practice server to work on your setups, practice in the F08, and to TEST YOUR CONNECTION WITH OUR SERVER. This is very important. Our server has a fantastic connection but you know how gremlins can be. Try it out sooner rather than later.

See you on the track tomorrow!

EAGLE Race Team celebrating 1 year w/ 150 Laps on the oval!
SmokyTyrz
S3 licensed
Greetings everyone!

Around this time last year two fellows were sharing track time on the LiveForSpeed Oval. No other drivers around but a couple of late-night USA F08 drivers working their lap times. An exchange of setups, tuning discussions, and lots of drafting practice ensued. In a short time, this two-man team could not be beat.

And this was the beginning of Eagle Race Team.

It was early on in these late-night races that Thunderchild and SmokyTyrz determined it was time for a US-based LFS racing presence. In a short time our Team Eagle grew when Dygear and Canadaman joined. And then Racer shortly thereafter.

And only one year later:

10 members strong!
Dominating presence in over 5 major racing sims!
And we are a team of record holders in several of those sims!

So, let's celebrate by doing what we do best. Racing.

Just a nit-pick... my name seems to be on the updated list twice. Maybe bump off the second one so another person has a chance of getting higher up on the waiting list.

One more nit...typically when someone updates a thread like this they only update the initial post. That way everyone understands where to look. Otherwise the second-most-understood thing is to simply update with the most recent post. But updating an update in the middle of a thread is tough to track. Just an FYI... Not complaining, just trying to make the world easier for everyone.

Thx!

PS: I'll be ready and online Sunday morning whether I'm on the grid or not. Are we allowed to spectate if we do not make the grid?

Cheers,
-Smoky
