@Aquilifer:
I can confirm that: When "Forced Cockpit View" is set on a server and you're watching the replay you can only choose between cockpit view, TV and from top. The custom/chase view is missing in the replays.

Like you said it would be nice to have the chase view allways in the replays, not alone for movie makers. Sometimes it is great to watch the lines from behind.

No administration connect possible

Hai!

I've first time installing BFS 0.8a, no problems to get server and friends lists. If I try to connect to administrate my dedicated LFS-Server (X12) I get the error message "Can't connect to InSim". In the log file of the dedicated server it calls "First package of InSim has a wrong size".

So I have checked passwords and port numbers for typing errors, checking the firewall ect, no help. The entry in the log files shows that there is a connection, but it can't establish...are there any differences in the protokoll?

If I connect via the game to my dedicated server I'm able to administrate it via text commands, no problem.

Where is the failure - on my side?

It means you have to add it to the link which is running LFS, for example:

"c:\games\LiveForSpeed\lfs.exe /insim=29999"

Doesn't matter to me because I'm working in shift. So it depends on this shift plan if I can participate or not.

Quote from Aquilifer :The benefit of production cars is that we can have rallyx stages too.

100% agree.

Quote from SgtNathan :I have the same problem with cars warping slightly online. I would suggest you get a friend to host a server with a un-default port number to see if the warping contiunes.

Well, I will test it anyway, but could take some time (f*cking late shift, you know?).

Quote from Davo :Only the server admins can do that. It's been mentioned for servers to run on a lower port range but there's probably only a handful out there that do. I'd say most of them run the default or close to the default port of 63392.

That remembers me that I have a dedicated server on my notebook to check this out in the LAN. The jumping cars are also in replays if I was connecting my game computer to this notebook only in LAN...so that shows that it can't be a problem with the ISP, or?

So I was testing other settings for the network (MPU and so on) by using a program which is optimizing this settings, but no help.

I'm out of ideas...

Quote from the_angry_angel :...or that your ISP is throttling packets which use "high" ports - typically this would be bittorrent, emule, etc. although LFS also uses a high port by default.

Is there a way to set another port for LFS...?

Jumping cars in MP races and replays

Hello!

I was looking around here in the forum for lag problems but I didn't found anything that fits my problem.

After playing 1,5 year LFS since a couple of weeks I got the problem that other cars are jumping in multiplayer races, either in race, in spectator mode and in the replays. "Jumping" means they are slight jumping from side to side, sometimes they disappear, and if you're looking to two other cars in spec or replay it is horrible to look at.

I didn't had this problem before. The PC is a game computer only (P4-3,2MHz, 1GB RAM, 6600GT), no other typical "problem maker" tasks in background (no IM, no eMule or Torrent). The PC is connected via switch and router directly to a DSL connection.

Normal fps is 92, if I running against 11 AI the fps is dropped to 30 but still with a smooth running of all cars in race and in spec and in replay. The resolution is dropping, but the movement is still smooth. In online races the fps never dropped so much, lowest value I noticed was 50 fps, but the cars are jumping.

Other games like BF1942 or CSS are running without these problems. I've noticed that the pings to other game servers are averaged about 10ms higher than a few weeks ago (from 50-60ms up to 60-70ms), but IMO it could not be the reason.

The PC was actually checked for viruses and atvertisements and all that stuff. The LFS version I'm using is U30, but a friend was having same problems when he was here with it's own computer using patch U on it's LFS.

For me it looks like a network problem, but where I can begin to search for it?

TIA

Hai!

1st of all thanks for your quick replies - great support! It works now - and is so simple if you did not read over the important line...

To summarize it (for a quick introduction of other searching guys):

Startup of LFS with Join2LFS and Pit Spotter

1. Install both and make sure every prog/mod runs for itself as discripted in the readme files.

2. In Pit Spotter cfg-file edit "autorunLFS=1" to "autorunLFS=0"

3. Start Join2LFS, click on "settings" and do the following entries:

3a. InSim Port: 29999 (the same as given in Pit Spotter cfg in "DestPort")

3b. Delay: 0 (or what you think to need)

3c. Klick "Add" and choose the path to the "LFSspotter.exe"

3d. Make sure the option "Pass parameter..." is not aktivated.

3e. Click "Ok" and leave Join2LFS.

4. Go to LFS-World and join a server by clicking on a "join"-link. It should work now.

5. Because the autorun function of PitSpotter is disabled, it is now required to start LFSspotter and LFS seperatly. So that LFSspotter can connect to LFS InSim Port it is required to add the parameter "/insim=29999" (as given in LFSspotter cfg) to the LFS startup link.

The only thing which is not working like before is that the PitSpotter window is not closing automatically after ending LFS. But you can live with it.

We will racing us...

Join2LFS via Pit Spotter

Hello!

I have installed Join2LFS with all defaults to startup LFS and joining hosts directly from the LFS-World page. It works.

Also I have installed Pit Spotter with all defaults, and it works.

But I can only use one of these. In the readme of Join2LFS is written it is possible to startup other progs before starting LFS and pass the Join2LFS parameters to this programm.

This means: A click on a "join host" in LFS-World will give the parameters to Join2LFS, this will startup Pit Spotter and pass the parameters to it, and Pit Spotter will startup LFS.

Ok, but I'm not able to bring it up to run. Join2LFS is starting Pit Spotter, Pit Spotter is starting itself and LFS, but LFS did'nt join the server. It stays in the menu screen.

Where is my fault in this scenario? Which InSim-Ports I have to use?

TIA
