While I think its cool you started this thread it's no known secret that a majority of LFS is geared towards road racing therefore a majority of the support will be anti-oval pro-roadracing here.
I enjoy the oval on LFS from time to time. The initial thrill dwindled and I went to road course racing and have enjoyed it and its 'technical' challenge it presents which simply put are not present on the SS tri-oval which KY1 is.
I fully understand and appreciate your effort for more support of this oval because to a person who has never driven it it is very challenging and deceptively difficult to win at. Esentially w/ the proper set(fuel amount) and proper line most will hit 31.60's solo fairly easy w/ some practice. The real skill and challenge comes in getting in the mid to low .50's on your own on a consistent lap to lap basis and then getting the ability to hotlap on a quali run in the .40's. If one can manage not to get noobed (because let's face it prior to FM's noob filter the oval was plagued by them.) then you can have some very rewarding close racing where strategy comes into play much more.
As a spectator sport Oval racing dominates simply because of the closeness and spectator ability to see more of the track if not the whole one on short tracks such as Bristol.
Now moving deeper into oval racing outside of lfs.
I have always enjoyed oval racing for the focus and strategy involved so I purchased nr2003 (nascar racing 2003). This opened my eyes to the amount of not only focus and strategy but also Techincal ability needed such as on a track like Phoenix where you can be going 3 or 4 wide into turns braking and having to hold your line. This I can assure IS equally technically chanllenging to any type of road course racing. The other tracks such as this call for Throttle control, Braking balance, proper steering input and awareness.
So bottom line do what you like and I don't expect any of you to suddenly say 'wow I gotta race oval now'....you either like it or hate it....it's ultimately up to you.
My bottom line would be that any racer who want's to be well rounded should understand the disciplines of both.
Sorry for your bad luck Plaztik....I'm sure the next one will be better and I wish it really would have been something else.
I'm also sorry for taking the thread in the direction I did....I obviously just didnt like someones comment towards me and being a person who wears my heart on my sleeve I let him know how I felt as I always do.
I wish you the best of luck and hope you get your next one soon!
It was already working in LFS....he was racing w/ me when the fault occured.
It started off w/ him having to stop racing and saying that the wheel was way off center to which I replied to try restarting LFS which he did w/ no avail.
Next we tried unplugging it and plugging it back it to allow it to re-calibrate also w/ no avail.
Next I suggested a system restart also w/ no avail after which he tried the rest of the previously mentioned things.
This is all you all need to worry about....the fact that it also does not work w/ the PS2 eliminates pretty much 99% of all doubt that it is NOT an issue w/ his PC along w/ the fact he tried it on his laptop.
The Flashing light can mean there is an internal fault within the wheel, a faulty connection to the PC or Console, or possibly software related issues on a PC. If the connection has been double checked for accuracy which he did, and the wheel was tried on his laptop as well w/ the same conclusion along w/ even trying to connect it to his PS2 to drive GT4 with then it only leaves us one possible conclusion.
Read before you show your true intelligence by insulting others without the knowledge yourself to back it up with.....god I hate people who try to make themselves feel important on a public forum.
You need to shut your mouth. Who the hell are you? You don't know me or even most likely have any more knowledge on the subject of this wheel that I don't or can't get. Maybe you thought it would up your rep in this LFS forum or something....in either case it was just stupid. If you think I'm just looking for posts look at my # of posts for the amount of time I have been registered here first. I could give a ratt's ass about my # of posts and think its stupid to even post them on forums as it only promotes post whoring from lamers.
I really NEVER post here and only did b/c Plaztik who is my friend did with a conclusion I had arrived at after doing some research into the issue he was experiencing.
Oh and BTW your so called answer was one I had already recommended to him prior to his posting on here.
Don't mistake a short answer w/ an unknowlegeable one.
I was already trying to help him on LFS prior to posting on here so know what your talking about before opening your mouth.
BTW what did you accomplish? Did you get it to work? Maybe you need shut up and get off of your high horse because you obvisously don't know what your talking about either otherwise it would be working know wouldnt it?
I have owned one and know a bit about electronics....not an expert but enough to get by. I can assure you that the fact that it did not only work w/ his PC but also with his PS2 (if you had read his post more carefully) would have noted to the issue being w/ the wheel itself and not w/ his PC. Logic would dictate that. Also do you work for Logitech? Are you a certified expert on the product? I suspect the answer is NO meaning you don't know any more than any of us.
The fact that you lack any social intelligence only adds to the fact of your lack of knowledge. Use some tact w/ people and you will undoubtedly get better results in the future.
So before you get on your high horse and want to make a feeble attempt at making your sad existence of a so called life feel better by insulting others on a public forum then I suggest you simply Think before you speak.
Hell I don't even know why I need to explain myself except for the fact that your response was so blatently stupid that I just felt I should.
I'm pretty sure since I've been in Poland the past 2 weeks that its 6 hours ahead of central U.S. time which would put it at 5 ahead of Eastern U.S. Time meaning a 23:00 race start time for the Germans. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone. I've also added you good Dr. so let us know if its past your bedtime .
Agreed....this thread should have never been started...it was begging for trouble from the get go. You can't expect people to be anything except what they are so putting something out there like this is bound to bring the Troll's out.
What are you even talking about? His community is his choice....LFS is public domain....if he didnt care about his community being [FM] then he wouldnt be on here right nowillepall .
This was a thread begging the Trolls to come out....I still don't understand why it was even started but to re-inforce a decision a certain person was pondering.
We do need more ovals....this I can agree on 100%. Everyone is entitled to their preferances so if you prefer road coarses then so be it and if you like ovals as well then it should also have more than 2 choices available...whether you like ovals or the people on here does not matter....what does is the fact that we would like to state a request and it is that we would hope to see something like this for testing purposes and possibly 1 or 2 other ovals configurations.
Stupidity is always allowed since we cannot stop people from making a decision. What we can do though is to make the consequences of their decisions undesirable to them thus minimizing this type of stupidity....the choice is untimately up to the community/developers as to whether or not this type of behavior should be tolerated or not. I for one could care less what color your skin is but what I am prejudice against is absolute stupidity such as that demonstated by these people here. The whole race card has always been crap. The worst thing a person of that or any other ethnicity can do is to affirm the stupid persons beliefs/stereotypes by acting in a way that would support/reaffirm thier beliefs. The correct decision in this case is to ban such individuals from the community immediately to minimize the spread of their cancer before it goes on for too long.
Actually RaCeR pretty much only does road courses and is active in the SimFIA so I would say he has a decent amount of perspective.....in both "road courses" as well as "oval" racing so why don't you get some perspective.
wow these guys are good...I type this along with e-mailing them...get a bite to eat...come back and they have granted me an additional unlock. The LFS team rocks!
