I had kinda similar problems couple of years ago with GPL. I see that you have the same problem with more than one pedalset so this may not help you but anyways maybe worth checking out.

Every time i braked, fps went down. When I checked my pedals with dxtweak I noticed that pot values got all crazy when braking and that consumed ALOT of cpu time. So I just cleaned my pots and everything was ok again.
