How wrong can you be? This is the exact problem with most online sim racers. No you are not going for a PB, you are racing. And in racing you should not slam into the car in front of you period! The "hotlapper", notice I didn't say racer, should have slowed down in the corner enough to not hit him then gone by in the next straight when he was actually close enough to pass him. The one being blue flagged should only get out of the way once he was through the corner. It's this mentality that makes pick-up servers a crappy place to "race" but a great place to compare "hotlapping" ability.:banghead:

The most important thing you need to learn is that pedal next to the gas is called a break, use it. Most people on these servers do not know about that pedal unfortunately. They think the rear of your car is there to slow them down enough to make the corner. Always remember it is you and only you that can keep from hitting the car in front of you, and at no time should the front of your car make contact to the rear of the car in front of you.

I would run some races against a full field of AI. That should get you use to the "be prepared to be punted if you are a hair slower in a corner than the guy behind ya, for what ever reason". People say that the AI is bad in this game, well after the week end I had on the stcc servers "but this goes for any pick up servers" I would say they are dead on behavior wise to "human" mentality. But even with this mentality I would suggest you use the stcc to learn how people "race <-- I use this term lightly" here in pick up servers. Just remember "hot lapping" is not racing.

I'm a little confused as to why new cars and tracks have an effect on physic stuff development and vis versa? Does not one dev (Scawen) work one the physics while another does all the car and track models (Eric)? Can they not be worked on at the same time?

I would love to see a "real oval" like Atlanta and one like Bristol or Martinsville. Or a rally course, or Baja type thing! And with Nascar's new "Car of Tomorrow" it wouldn't take much to change one of the GTR (FXO) cars into a 800hp V8 for those types of tracks. Of course I would also like to see some prototype LMP1 and LMP2 cars or cars like from the early 1970's Can-Am series.

Maggot you're thinking of Daytona (the 2 1/2 mile oval) that has the yellow line you can not go under and advance your position.
Darlington is the egg shaped 1.366 mile oval. The knid of oval I think would be a blast to drive UF1000's around banging doors for 50 laps. But thats just me.

Greetings! I was looking at your site today. I would be interested in joining your team for some good clean racing. I have not spent alot of time online as the pickup races are to short. I would say my ability would be mid to back of the pack (hey You fast guys need someone to pass right?:shrug.

I tried the signup thing, but the hour glass after I hit submit would just turn and the page never updated. I use firefox for my web browser. I'll try again tonight with IE, and see if that works. I also signed up for the forums.
