Well I am a little baffled but I think your right about internal connections. I seem to remember something about this with IL2.
I can connect to it if I try to connect via LAN (local IP address) but the external IP doesnt want to know. Prob cos its via the gateway which both PC's share.
IF you want to test it with me feel free (server name is "IXL TEST")
If the host (dedicated or not - shouldnt matter) on my other PC is running in demo mode (Demo tracks and cars as its a demo unlocked game) it should be able to host for unlocked players (ie SP1 or SP2) shouldnt it?
However if this isnt the case, I find it kind of odd. So basically I have to re-lock my game on my main pc if I want to host on my other pc so my mates (who only have the demo) and I can join in?
Im not new to online gaming and run LAN gaming events so I know a little about the following but this one has me confused.
I have my main pc with my LFS installed (and unlocked to SP2) and I thought I could try installing the game in demo mode on my other pc so I could host ONLINE and try connecting to it via the net. The server is found without a problem and appears in the server listing, however I get the error "HOST HAS A DIFFERENT GAME CODE" which is very odd because its the same files i used to install on my main game. Im hosting cars and tracks in the demo all ok, so its a bit odd..
