You just bought a set of DDR400 ram, and your other fastest set is DDR333, the DRR400 ram you just got, will be slowed down to DDR333 (or worse if you use the other set). You might aswell just use the two new sticks you got and throw out/sell the rest.
If you use the 133 sticks (DDR266) and stick in two faster sticks (DDR400) the DDR400 sticks will most likely be slowed down to DDR266 speeds, thats if they even work together at all.
And you're wasting your time aiming for 3gb of ram, you'd have no use for it unless you were working with giant spreadsheets, encoding or whatever... there are no games that will utilise 3gb of ram.
2gb is plenty.
And as said above, AMD cpu's dont like running 4 sticks of ram. So in the long run, you'd be better off with 2x1gb sticks. 2x512mb may be faster (although im not convinced) you're not gonna see any difference.
1gb sticks can run faster than CAS3, generally the "value" stuff is CAS3, but the more up-market stuff is CAS2-2.5. But the CAS rating isnt gonna make much difference to him, the only real difference you'll see if a couple of seconds faster loading times (if you're lucky) and some extra points in benchmarks.
Personally i'd go for quantity (more mb's) over speed (CAS rating and timings), cause the difference isnt gonna be that noticeable.
Ya might aswell chuck out the 256mb sticks of RAM if their stock speed is 133mhz, cause all they'll do is slow down your new set... thats if it'll even let your computer boot up.
Yes... sometimes you can get away without a Windows reinstall if you're replacing your motherboard with one thats the same brand/model/chipset. I'd say alot of your problems are caused by drivers from your old board conflicting with the new ones. Im actually surprised it booted into Windows.
Reformatting is your friend.
Oh and dont forget to install the Dual Core patch after you're done.
Later on down the track you can get another 1gb stick (if you play BF:2 or anything else that needs more ram) and you should be able to run them in dual channel mode... aslong as they're the same brand etc.
You dont need to reinstall Windows on a CPU change, you more than likely would if you changed the motherboard aswell though. You dont need 64bit Windows. You might see an improvement by installing the AMD Dual Core patch... just google for it, you'll find it. Should help with any crashing you get or applications acting weird.
Hey all, i think this is in the right section, if not, feel free to move it.
I recently got myself a MOMO and everything has been sweet (yay), then a friend suggested i should turn off combined axis in the gamepad control panel, basically giving me the option to brake and accelerate at the same time. Which is what i want.
I've done that, and it works fine for GTR 2, but when i use the "seperate" option in LFS for the pedals, the axis' are reversed.
Example:
Feet off brake and accelerator = Both brake and accelerator on
Feet on brake and accelerator = Both brake and accelerator off
I hope you understand what i mean, cause i just confused the hell outta myself.
I went into the wingman driver control setup thing and checked the "report axis seperately" (or whatever it says) and that did nothing at all.
Any help on the matter would be appreciated, thanks.
How does the H-Shifter work? Surely it'd need some sort of software to tell the game which gear the shifter is in. Or is each gear assigned its own button?
Awesome work, i was wondering how you made them touch sensative, seeing the pots answered that question.
They look heavy, which would be perfect for me, mine keep sliding on the carpet under my desk and i have to pull them back out with my feet, which is a bit scary in the middle of a race.
I gave the car to a guy online to drive, within 2 laps the car was well... wrecked so i didnt get much of a look.
I like how it looks now, but it needs "something", i just dont know what... there's too much blank space, and i dont really wanna fill it with decals cause i think that looks messy.
This is my second skin that i've actually put a decent amount of time into, and i've sort of hit a brickwall and dont know what else to add to it.
Basically the back half of the car is pretty much blank. I know i could just cover it with sponsers, but thats not really my way of doing it, i'd rather the car just had a really good paintjob. And yes, i know the DynoJet logo isnt quite centered on the hood.
I was gonna put a "Mobil [1]" logo on the wing, but everytime i resize them, they just look crap. I've been to MasterSkinnerz (as you can see with the logos on the side), and i didnt find much that would fit with what im doing. I was gonna put some tribal art on the rear fenders (that would follow the line of the wheel arch), but i cant find anything decent, and my drawing skills leave alot to be desired.
