Quote from Stang70Fastback :If you just 'drop the clutch' you shouldn't have any trouble doing burnouts. I do it all the time in South City... it's the only way to point the right way if you spin out WITHOUT burning up the clutch, lol.

Mazz4200 - Subaru pwns...save for that god damned head gasket. Only major issue ever with the car.

Agree, that is what I expected. I haven't changed clutch settings from the defaults, so I'm wondering if auto clutch is still on, then it could be slipping it "automagically" instead of leaving it engaged. In which case, the device which is supposed to help n00bs would actually be hindering them?!?

Also agree, Never had a problem in either the Impreza or Forester GT I've owned.

Being 12th in the hotlaps charts (and 100% of the laps done), and neck and neck with ruditurbo. Like that is going to happen again.

I've got to agree with the other real life racers (as i am) on here. The rate that the clutch destroys itself is fair enough in the open wheel race cars in LFS. I've never driven a real F1 car but I have seen them destroy a clutch leaving the pits. But not applied realistically to the other heavy cars and clubmans.

Simply doing a burnout to spin the car around on a tight track instead of doing a 10 point turn after an accident shouldn't kill your clutch in the "club cars" (sedans and clubmans). If that were the case, people competing in Hill Climbs in real life wouldn't make it to the top (you officially perform a burnout to heat the driving tyres before you start). People competing in Autocross/Motorkhana or similar events would need a new clutch every run.

In normal lapping, sure I barely get the clutch warm. But one donut and its hosed? is not realistic (except in the open cars perhaps).

This comment is after a mere 10 minutes of testing the Y patch so not a lot of practice with it and my current controller configuration may not be helping. Just another case of a nice idea which hasn't been applied all that well. Oh and I'm sure it wasn't easy to code, but I hope it gets improved upon soon.

I'm spitting my dummy because I've wasted thousands of hours doing tens of thousands of laps to get 229 current laps in the charts. They will now be deleted. Those hours and hours of work will be gone.

Flame all you like. Talk all the reason you like. Emotion is king right now, and I'm not happy about losing that effort!
So now I'm going to go and sulk in a corner.....

This isn't the same scale difference as between S1 and S2.

Look at Formula 1. They keep changing the rules for car specs, the cars keep changing, they even change the shape of tracks slightly over the years, but the Records are not ignored. They don't say "well no turbos anymore, and we'll groove the tyres, so you should all be slower, but we'll give you a chance to set a new WR, so we'll ignore the old ones now."

They should be able to write a program to scan the existing hotlaps and remove all those with front suspension set dramatically higher than rear. They used to manually remove the spr's posted with wall-riding on the hotlap in S1 days.

They should leave the laps in place, then after a month review how new times compare to ones uploaded before April 21. If people aren't getting close to the old times, then remove the older laps. THAT would be fair, and an interesting comparison in the process.

To say the old WRs are invalid is crazy. People drove with the limitations of the game to set them. As WGooden says, the same people are going to reset the same WR's, unless more people get off their butts and actually post times now. Biggie will still own the RB4 hotlaps, Flotch will still own the rally ones.

Exactly... some tracks. So why wipe all combinations?
If the tyre physics changes are what I think they are there will be more grip, so times should tumble. Probably only by the same people who currently battle for WR's though.

It is depressing to have done hundreds of laps (thousands really to get those hundreds worth posting) only to find they are being reset due to a patch. Nutter rank suits the rest of us who will never get -10 minutes like the robo-drivers up the top, even with the same set.

I can't sit back and say "well I won't bother hotlapping then" as that is totally defeatist. A compromise would be nice Vic.
