hey south aussie,
pop your head into A.R.S.E. ( www.arse.org.au ) as this is where the aussies hang out. There's a drifting group in there, but i don't know how active they are since it's not my thing. Drop by and say hi and see what they have to offer.
I think there's a Adelaide group meet up being organised soon.. so that might interest you too..
We're not a "beginners league" but have divisions that range from the elite to the not so elite so you're bound to fit in somewhere. At the moment we're in the middle of a XFR vs UFR series with a 3 hour driver swap racer coming in about a month. Make sure you get in on the action!
Be sure to drop by A.R.S.E. ( www.arse.org.au ) and say hello to all the other aussie racers who you'll no doubt see on the servers and can help guide you with setups etc.
i can get the same issue in LFS (game contuinues, but video locks for a second or too).
however i know what the issue is that causes mine
quite simply, it happens when the hard drives spin up. this situation arises when the power saving kicks in and spins down the hard drive(s) to save power. At this point everything is fine. Later on (a few laps in LFS) the output freezes and i can hear the drives spin back up (presumably something, perhaps LFS, needs to write to the disk). Once that procedure finishes the game returns to normal. if this is the problem then it should also be quite easy to diagnose .. just listen for hard drives starting up when you're cursing your computer for locking up (you may have to curse quieter than usual however )
If this is your problem then the "fix" is quite easy. Before firing up LFS make sure that you go to the power saving applet in the control panel and make sure the hard drives aren't allowed to be turned off
Would it be possible to trigger a script at a prespecified time? (or a script to call another script at a specified time) or is that beyond the scope of the system (and/or possibly more suited to an insim application)?
the application i'm thinking of is in a league setting and would be used to generate race control messages at the appropriate times. eg
The shorter circuit is used for the local V8 race while the longer circuit is/has been used for the international races (eg F1 and the single 6 hour race held on new years eve a number of years ago)
The fast kink on the longer circuit (linking Jones and Brabham straights) had a bunch of raised kerbs that don't show up on that track map that tightened up the corner and forced cars to slow (at least a bit!) .. in fact, those kerbs are still there!
The newer, shorter version has a flat out kink which seems to be much more dangerous due in part to the lack of run off. So it's certainly not "duller" in that particular area!
IMO the longer track which included the off camber S bend near Gate 5 and the stag corner at Gate 6 was a much more interesting circuit
we're currently in the middle of a FOX series which takes place every 2 weeks. In the off weeks we hold single races in various categories. Length of races is normallly around the 40 lap mark.
up and coming races are:
Formula V8 at Aston Grand prix (30 laps)
FOX race at fern bay green reversed (55 laps)
most series races we have 3 full divisions of 20 racers which provides good racing. feel free to drop by and say hi
I develop computer simulations of a variety of groundwater related issues such as Salt interception schemes for the government and dewatering schemes for mining companies.
I run 1920x1440 on my primary 21" CRT and 1600x1200 on my secondary 19" CRT
since the original post was in relation to web design..
one of my all time pet annoyances is web sites/designers that insist on maximising my browser window.. i mean, seriously, .. do they really think i want to run a browser in a 1920x1440 window? illepall
Buy a cheap video cassette.. crack it open via your preferred destructive method. Inside there you will find a strip of spring steel that you can cut/form to the correct shape to fit into the actlabs shifter. (from memory there's enough material in there for 2 actlabs springs)
these seem to be much more durable than the genuine actlabs version too
my guess is that you've locked your brakes at some point, creating a thin/flat spot on your tyre. this is the section that punctured, while the rest looks fine
