This topic is silly, because there are obviously no disadvantages to s2 users because of the s1 users? Except for maybe a little confusion AT A FIRST GLANCE to new users, but this will obviously be overcome when the user becomes more familiar with the game, which they will when they see how great it really is how it is.
Made a sound that is similar to an RB**DET* also using a sample for air intake acting as an external wastegate dump combined with LFS Tune 2.0 creating the straight 6
I do realise the 1st one is gay but I was just tryin to make an example of the idea, I'm hoping someone who has experience with sound files to make a better one... and I don't know how to record a sample sorry
I have been experimenting with the air intake sound to give an illusion of an external wastegate or screamer on the xrt (or any turbo car). I don't know if this has been tried before and search came up with nothing.
I have no experience with sound files in LFS but I came up with a very basic example of what I mean. I'm not trying to add rice.. blah blah, I just think it adds some spice to the xrt and makes it sound a little more powerful and I find it more enjoyable to drive with this element added to the sound. Please leave comments and feedback or help me out by improving the current sound or by making your own and posting it in this thread
To install: Unzip to the Live For Speed\data\engine folder and in LFS press shift+A and load the soundfile to the air intake sound and turn vol up and muffler down
I'm having a problem in the shift+U mode in V6, when in the autocross editor, there are no controls, all i can see on screen is the HUD as seen in this screenshot:
I guess that all makes sense, but it doesn't explain why when I lock up the brakes I get a huge trail of smoke but don't when doing a standing burnout (brakestand, linelock, skid) as the heat generated would be relitively similar.
Someone earlier said that tyre temps in LFS act as one block of rubber instead of air + surface and sidewalls. This seems very likey imo as rubber does hold heat pretty well but when seperated by air inside and outside the tyre it should cool much faster. I am experienced with drifting in rl and when driving on brand new tyres, they heat up much faster then "bald" tyres on the rear because there is alot more rubber to substain heat and transfer it to the air inside the tyre (which expands and contracts depending on temperature) though I have never experienced a tyre explode due to it being too hot (too higher pressure) which is what happens in lfs, not because the rubber is worn away. In RL I have only experienced it pop due to delamination.
Tyres wear very fast when hot as someone also has mentioned, but in LFS I think tyres don't wear anywhere near enough under "drift" conditions due to the fact that they don't heat up fast enough (on the tread, not the inner air) which would explain why this is.
Edit: The tyres do pop due to wear and not heat (disregard previous statment) but, I still think the tyres heat up way too slow and cool too slow.
Off Topic:Who has ever had smoke trailing from their tyre when driving in a straight line? Not me... (when tyres are red hot this happens) If anyone would watch this video (mainly at 2:53) : http://youtube.com/watch?v=9W9OPNEhTrc You will notice that smoke is produced much faster then in LFS, and the tyres heat up much faster too as you can see.
I've lost my dumpvalve and 80% of my skid mark sounds in-game going from U30 to U32... not happy. but when I wen't back to U30 I got the skid sounds back but not the dumpvalve.
+1 Great idea. But if you have mates on the server that will be sensible then you can decide not to use the telepit option during a race anyway, I know there's always the urge, but it's always fun to try and drive a wrecked car back to pits.
