I would like to investigate a bit further into issue, but for the time being the drastic solution seems to be working. I should be racing again next Monday, so I'll report back if I run into the D3D error once more or if my problem has come to an end with the "nuke it" fix.

Keep us posted, let's hope that the fresh install ends up working out *cross fingers*. And have you gone for 24H2 for this new install, or still on 23H2?

I did still find some audio glitches here or there, mostly it seems to be LFS and Discord not playing nice with each other?

I wonder if Discord's overlay is causing issues even if it's not being used. I'm going to try and completely disable it through Discord's settings.

Quote from loopingz :Just my 2 cents here, one thing that could have changed lately is your latest windows install. Your build number 26100 means you are on the latest 24H2. Can you try to revert to windows 23H2?
I also think Vic is running 24H2.
I am keeping to 23H2 for various reasons...

In my case, I did a clean install of 24H2, I didn't upgrade from 23H2, so I can't revert. But your hunch might be correct.

Bear with me, but I tried WineD3D for Windows. It uses Wine's API translation layer to translate Direct3D calls into equivalent OpenGL ones, and it seems to have solved things (knock on wood), but I haven't tried for long enough to see if it's actually a working solution.

Just plop the DLLs into the LFS directory. Make a backup before replacing the .dll files. Unfortunately, there is a definite performance hit and a bit higher CPU usage.

I may have found a workaround for this issue. It seems to work for me, but can some of you also try it?

Open System Settings
Navigate to System > Display > Graphics (It's all the way at the bottom)

Set the "Optimizations for windowed games" to Off

Microsoft has some documentation about this:
https://support.microsoft.com/ ... 7e-4ed0-9a5e-f9389e535952

I'm looking forward to the Direct3D 11 rewrite and the increased frequency for the physics calculations. The video seems really smooth that you uploaded on YouTube. Good luck!

EDIT: Nevermind, the issue still persists.

Quote from Scawen :I don't think I can get involved at this time. It may be the people who write video card drivers don't do a lot of testing for Direct3D 9Ex these days, so errors might creep in.

This could be an issue. I'm not sure if it's the case for AMD, but Intel has given up on implementing DirectX 9 and prior in the drivers. Instead, they're using DXVK to translate D3D calls to Vulkan.

I'm running into the exact same issue as OP, though I'm on a completely different GPU. Intel Iris Xe Graphics.

Done the same things, re-installing graphics driver, updating them, updating Windows 11 to the latest version. I was tempted to say that it's some driver or hardware issue, but it's strange that both OP and I are getting very similar issues on completely different hardware.

Thank you lolzol and Zay for the informative and fast responses. I'll shortly get my equipment and license in a few short days. See you guys on the track!
I want to get started with LFS.

Good day fellow friends!

I have been tinkering around with the LFS demo for a while and it seems quite realistic and enjoyable. Currently, I play with a game controller using analog sticks and triggers. I'm very interested in purchasing a S2 license; the price seems fair.

First question, in terms of control, what do people think of the Logitech G27 product? My local store has a few new ones in stock for a reasonable price. Is it a good racing wheel?

Second, it seems that this game has a long history behind it, and taking a look at the forum, people are eagerly awaiting a delayed release. I am very interested in the online play portion of the game, but I worry that because of the game's maturity, there won't be anyone to play with. For someone like me in a Eastern Time (GMT-5), will there be some activity online? With my little time on the demo servers, I noticed the amount of reckless players is not negligible. Is this still an issue in the S2 servers?

Thanks,
