My uni has the same policy as the OPs, that's at Newcastle.

EDIT: Long shot, but maybe IE doesn't use port 80 here? Can I use any port other than port 80 or 63392 for lfs?

Doesn't work!

Did as you said, didn't work, so rebooted, still no luck.

Changed all instances of port 63392 to 80, rebooted again, still nothing!

Any other ideas?

I have the exact same situation, but I am not fussed about playing online - I just need to activate my copy.
Is there any way I can activate it?
I just get a "unable to connect to master server" message when I try to unlock at the moment.

Def. looks like Atrifacts for me. Download and run ATi tool, that'll show you if you've got artifacts (new versions work with nVidia cards too.)

Ok, so here's a screenie of my LFS at the moment. Please ignore the wallpaper to the right- I'm minus a hard drive at the moment so don't have photoshop to cut it off.

So what can I improve? Any options you think I've missed in tray tools? Any better textures available?

I've been wondering the same - hope you don't mind if I thread hijack! I have a heavily clocked 9800Pro (256Mb) and a 3700+ O'cd to FX-57 speeds. I can get about 100fps with everything maxed, what else can I do to make lfs look lovely? I'm using ATi tray tools to put everything on max, and it seems to be maxed on the options menu. Any good texture replacements about?

What can I do to check my upload speed?

Done a wired test - 88min, 108max, 94 average.

I didn't lose any packets, but my minimum was 89, and maximum was 2639!!! Average = 181.

Pingplotter gave me a "Round trip" total of between 38 and 91 (did it a couple of times). Is that what you're after?
Come to think of it MSN may have been logged in in the background, but I'm not sure on that.

@Mischief007, I'll try connecting wired, but that's really a last resort as I have to run the cable through 3 rooms to reach a phone socket. Wireless connection travels through one wall, literally 1 foot from router to reciever, with a thin wall between.

Just been playing a bit of online Kyoto ring, and was told to "fix my connection" by an admin. I wasn't sure what to do here, so logged out and back in again, to try again. I was told it still wasn't fixed and I'd be facing a ban if I didn't fix it, so I logged out.
I'm using a decent PC, with a solid wireless connection to a 2.2Mbps broadband line, and the race had a ping of about 35.
What do I need to do?
