RETRO CUP 24 | Round 1

SERVER: Race Green Events

It's time to get serious, time to get fast, take those risks and score those points!

----

RETRO CUP 24 Season BEGINS officially on Monday, 15th July, with the Round 1 of the Season!

The drivers already warmed up to the championship's spirit last week in Rockingham with the Prologue.
And it was jam packed with action and drama of all sorts!
30 drivers took the start of the race, lots of action on track. And that was just an appetizer!

But this Monday, things gets serious!

We fly to Westhill for an epic race in Westhill North RGE Retro, a track that many will remember from the very first Retro Cup event, last year!

Remember it? It was dramatic!

This year we return to this legendary course: a very fast stop&go circuit with literally zero room for error.
Make a mistake, and you'll find yourself smashing into a tree or flying into a bale, if you're lucky!

You have to keep the focus and the pace through the race and the intense traffic, this challenge will split the man from the boys and will be a key round for the championship battle for sure!

INTRODUCING: BALANCE OF PERFORMANCE

For the very first time in the Retro Cup, this season we introduce the Balance of Performance!
All the 12 cars have been tested on the tracks and the BOP system will make sure that there are no big gaps between cars from each category.

All the cars can fight for the win in the race classes, and this will make the races packed with lots of different cars, making it all more fun!

When loading a car, a yellow message will appear indicating you the correct restriction to apply in the car's setup!

We're going Retro, so the circuit have gone back in time too!
Retro Sponsors, bales, marshall posts and much more have been added to the location to replicate the Retro feel.

Be sure to DOWNLOAD THE RETRO SPONSORS (attached below) for the track to get the best visual experience, also for your streamings!

GENERAL RACING RULES

Spoiler - click to reveal

Rules:
We will not make a mile long rule book that noone will read completely anyway,so we will rely on common sence of competitors to behave and follow the basic Rules of Clean Racing. There will not be an admin in server who will specifically observe drivers' behaviour during the race,so any action will be made only after protest while all retirements will be investigated automatically. If any incidents reported/protested,we will take individual approach to each of them to decide best fair resolution or punishment if needed.

Basic guidelines as a reminder:
> Blue flag - you may not deny/block a passing manouvre of laping car and try a repass right after it. In qualification it means - stay off racing line and don't disturb drivers on hotlap.
> Shortcuts - 2 wheels on track at all times. Track is mostly marked by white lines, while also curbs count towards track. Overtaking outside track limits counts as illegal and will be penalized in case of a protest.
> Contacts - have to be avoided at all costs as always when racing open wheel cars, that includes also bumpdrafting.
> Pit exit - pit exit lines will have to be respected - drivers may not cross the pit exit line with more than 2 wheels and have to make way for cars racing at full speed. Failing to comply with this rule will award them with 10s penalty, while causing incidents will result in bigger penalty. Pit entry lines will not be monitored, they serve just as guidelines.
> Chatting - it's not completely outruled, but still drivers are expected to concentrate on racing. In case of too much chatting while ignoring messages asking to cease chatting,a penalty may be given. In case of any abusive/offensive language a penalty will be given! Any in server present observers/spectators are not allowed to chat at all during race session!
> Lags - if there are any connection issues, driver will be asked to improve (close internet using programs). If driver will be considered as dangerous due to unstable connection and high ping,he will not be allowed to participate at the current round.
> Hacks/cheats - if used, you will not race with us. Ever. As simple as that.

Possible penalties:
> WARNING - any minor infraction that needs to be noted without penalty. Warned driver might receive bigger penalty for other infractions.
> 10s added to finish time - minor infractions, like illegal passing, pit exit line violation, too much chatting.
> 30s added to finish time - medium infractions, like causing avoidable incident[s] without serious consequences, illegal passing.
> 60s added to finish time (1 lap penalty in rounds 2 and 3) - medium infractions, like causing avoidable incident[s] with consequences to other drivers (like damage, multiple position loss) or unsportsmanlike behaviour.
> Disqualification for 1 or more rounds - heavy infractions, multiple incidents, unsportsmanlike behaviour. After serving disqualification, driver will automatically carry a "warning" for the rest of season.
> Series exclusion (including ban for any other events run under Race Green Events control) - serious infractions like intentional/revenge wrecking, event sabotage and any other malicious act.

TAV-crimenes - 1 race ban || Changed car between QP and Race, wrong rejoin, dangerous on track, massively off the pace

PROTOTYPES

ZFRL Thehemuli wins the opening round of the RETRO CUP 24 Season!!

The ZFRL ace looked very fast in the Prologue Round already, but in Westhill North RGE he put in another gear and dominated the race from Lap 1!

Not without worries tho!

When the lead of the race looked under total control, at Lap 40 Thehemuli crashed into the Porsche Cammera of Momo, who was already having his own incident!
The crash sent Thehemuli into the trees: he lost over one minute between the crash and the incorrect Re-joining procedure.

But the big advantage margin taken in the first half of the race was enough to grant him the overall win, by 18 seconds!
A dream start for Thehemuli, who's now looking like a real championship contender!

Behind him, a fierce battle between the Beta11F12 of RG^LORENZO and the Wessex74 of Mazdarati took place!
The italian of Race Green managed to overtake the Retro Cup 24 Summer Champion after his late pit-stop, flying in P2.

Mazdarati suffered a puncture while being overtaken, and was forced to pit: but he was still able to retain his third position ahead of RG^Rony, who suffered a double puncture earlier on!

S1DUS Unite retired early in the race, after damaging his McLarry in the unforgiving surroundings of Westhill.

GT PRO

The most crowded class of the day, with more than 25 cars, delivered great action through the field!

It was a dramatic race start, with //SRP Master/ taking a wrong line into the Pit-Lane and rejoining dangerously, causing a massive crash before Turn 1.

S1DUS Gabor kept the lead in a dramatic first lap, wich also saw massive crashes in the sector 2 section.
The S1DUS legend managed to keep his Porsche JGT clean through the 90 minutes of action, despite the occasional scares through traffic and close spaces.

One lap behind finished [SQUD] SIMOX, who managed to keep P2 despite the bold strategy of of B2R Twincam , who finished the race not far from P2, having not stopped in the pits for tyres or fuel!

Another B2R driver in P4, it's Reject, who finished ahead of the BMW EM30 of RG^NOSLE!

Interesting race strategy for [MRC] RedFox and AS|Pukky, who raced as a pair, swapping the drivers at lap 38, eventually finishing in a very respectable P6!

Drifter*Ascargot was the sole entry driving a Wessex69RSP: a good race by him, finishing P8 behind CRAAACH's Porsche.

O.A and Hermanni completed the TOP 10 of the GTPRO!

TOURING

No competitors in this category yet.

ROAD TROPHY

6 drivers took the start of the race in the Road Trophy class.

The Porsche Whisperer M@ci3k of Race Green took pole position and led the way of the field in a chaotic first lap, where the Roady Trophy drivers had to avoid carnage in different points of the tracks.

B2R Stiefla was quicker in avoiding crashed cars in lap 1, and took the lead of the race driving his AM Phoenix!
Didn't last long tho, as a contact with a Porsche driver meant losing the place again to M@ci3k!

The pair swapped positions different times during the race, due to traffic or mistakes, so SG^Madjester decided to attack, and managed to pass them both in Lap 5, flying solo in the lead!

He retained a 10-12 seconds lead over the Porsche champion for most of the race, before M@ci3k decided to pit for fuel rubber in lap 35!

Victory looked certain for Madjester, but this is Retro, and unexpected things can happen!
In order to let the Prototype of RG^Lorenzo pass, Madjester picks the grass with the left tyres in the fast middle sector, crashing into a tree and flying off the track.

Between the crash and the rejoin, the lap is lost, and Madjester falls back to P4 in class.

RG^M@ci3k takes the chequered flag in P1, yet another victory for the Porsche legend, ahead of B2R Stiefla, always pretty close all race long!

Very regular race and a final Podium for S.Martin, who already was one of the protagonists of Winter Season's fight in the Porsche.

A race to forget for [PM] JAM 616, who was involved in a huge crash in Sector 2 during the first lap of the race, and lost a lap for the damage. He'll end in P5, behind Madjester!

[BRM] Momo was having a decent race in P4 overall, but was involved in a huge crash with ZFRL Thehemuli around lap 40, and retired.

CHAMPIONSHIP STANDINGS AFTER 1 ROUND

AN ACTION PACKED START OF THE SEASON

Over 40 cars qualified, and 37 took the start of the race, making this the most attended RETRO CUP event ever!
The finishing rate was also high, with 24 cars taking the chequered flag, despite the very selective nature of the track.

RETRO CUP IN VIDEO!

Thanks to our participants, you can also re-live the race through different eyes!

Enjoy an onboard race streaming by M@ci3k , or relive the race with TV cameras thanks to Baptiste | DLV!

NEXT MONDAY, READY FOR ROUND 2?

Not even the time to digest what happened in Westhill, that we're racing again!
On Monday, same time, same format, Round 2 of the RETRO CUP 24 will go green in Blackwood Outskirts!

A very special, retro layout built around Blackwood's outskirts sectors.

A wider track compared to Westhill, that should should allow the drivers to push 100% and take the best out of their cars!

See you there, Retro Drivers! Thumbs up
