Quote from J.B. :I'm certain that after 15 seasons without a world class team mate Schumacher is not suddenly going to feel the need to accept a challenge like a true sportsman and drive beside Raikkonen in his probably final season. The rumours of Kimi signing for Ferrari along with the fact that Ross Brawn is taking a year off are very clear indications that MS is retiring. With Brawn and MS gone Ferrari may actually be able to operate as a two-car racing team again.

Other interesting developments for next year are Wurz confirmed at Williams, Webber probably at Renault and a seat at McLaren to be filled by either Paffett or Hamilton, both drivers I am quite exited about and who have the potential to finally give you Brits something to cheer about again.

I hope you're right. Gary has some good experience now but I doubt very much we will see Lewis in anything but a testing role. Another interesting driver which we may see get a race seat is Kovalinen. I prefered him to Rosberg in GP2 last season and reckon he could really step up to the plate next year.

But still too rough to wipe your crapper with. Burning sensation in one's rose bud is not nice.

Unless Prodrive gets to be the Mclaren Junior team. Although I can't remember if this was being discussed for 2007 or 2008. And yes Kovalainen should be interesting. While Rosberg did beat him quite clearly last year ART may well have had a better car as this always seems to be the case with them wether in F3 (ASM) or GP2.
Quote :And Im totally chill, all the time It's just every time, every single time Becky must do that.

Discuss the same topic and you get the same answers, but at least i'm not tearing him down and labelling him as useless, I dont think that and haven't said that. I just think Ferrari is the right car for Kimi because of the way he drivers.

I'm really sorry if this steps on your national pride and i'm really sorry I hold an opinion of your nations champion that reflects both positive and negative aspects of his ability (in a relative context to other drivers, not withstanding the fact he's better in all aspects in comparison to a humble fan like myself).

Rosberg definately had the better car in GP2.

One person we are all forgetting is Robert Kubica who seems to be ridiculously fast in practice.

Now Prodrive - that's a thought. I bet they waltz in and cane Super Aguri and Midland!

I've been watching F1 since about 1979 and I don't see how all the bitching about the FIA, Ferrari, Schumacher, Eccelstone and co is justified. History has shown us that what you might read in the British and German F1 press is often grossly exaggerated and often just plain wrong. Team principals and drivers meet with officials very regularly and often decisions are very mutual, yet we only see the whinging and backstabbing getting the attention. The fact that all of that technology shows up on the grid every grand prix and puts on the show that it does is testament to the difficulty of the entire exercise. I think it is sad that people look for blame and excuses to try to explain what they may not immediately comprehend.

Tall poppy syndrome and sour grapes sully this great sport and damge the reputations of some of history's greatest drivers and operators. I think sometimes people read too much into F1 and other times, not enough.

how does he drive?

Quote from ayrton senna 87 :how does he drive?

With commitment. All he needs is a car that won't fall apart when he commits himself.
nah all drivers drive with commitment, im talking about his actual drivng style
Yup. Exactly that Gunn. This (and the last few) years McLaren would better suite drivers like Button or Coultard (or historically Prost) who are usually more gentle drivers. But Coultard is a whole other can of worms...

Quote from Becky Rose :or historically Prost

Spot on! They need a clinical driver like Prost or (even more historically) Guy Moll! Tazio Nuvolari would not have had a great time in a silver arrow these past few seasons, that's for smegging sure. Give Kimi a Renault or Ferrari and stand aside.
21 million pounds a year? :jawdrop:
Quote from Becky Rose :I think i've said this before but I have a family member who works with McLaren mechanicks and they have been absolutely adamant that Kimi is going to Ferrari since before the season started.

Despite what I have said about Ferrari and the Ferrari Supports Club (also known as the FIA) and the numerous conspiracy theories about their rulings, I dont actually mind the Ferrari team - and infact used to quite like them before that cheating German schmuck joined them.

I think Ferrari would be a good move for Kimi, he's more rugged with the car than a lot of drivers and the Ferrari is already bullet proof, so one of the cars strength will cater for Kimi's key weekness. This could be what makes him a championship competitor, i'd go as far as saying he'd have to be pretty dire not to win the title next year, if indeed he does end up at Ferrari as anticipated.

Montoya to me was a far harder driver on the car and he managed to have less mechanical failures than Kimi last year. McLaren's have had terrible reliability for years now even with Coulthard behind the wheel.

2003 must be the last year that McLaren built a car which didn't break down every weekend and it put them in a great position for the championship. Even then that was the 2002 car so they had the whole 2002 season and start of 2003 to get it to that stage.

This year I have to say things haven't been too bad on the reliability front but then they haven't built a quick car.
