As long as we ignore fashion and music
Fashion and Hair you mean. A lot of 80's music is actually cooler than contemporary stuff in my opinion. Maybe not better to listen to, or more pure in essence, but cooler certainly.

*Gets out Tristan's variation of TopGears Cool Wall*

Which band would you rather play to Kristin Scott Thomas if she came round - REM or Blue?
I have to agree. I'm a child of the 80s and although the mullet was not a cool style, it was much better to sing about makin' sweet love than songs now that just complain about stuff
Quote from Alkanphel :Haha... this ruins my impression of an F1 car, thought that they shuld be super-fast and super-kool (im being stupidly childish here). V8 looks like an f1 car from the 80s hehe

It's Power to Weight Ratio would put it close to a 1983 Formula one car. When Nelson Piquet won the titel infront of Alain Prost.

I don't like the look of the V8 but it's easier to drive.
I would love to handle the F1 perfect but I#m far from it and it's damn hard. This think is just too fast so to hit the right breaking point and corner entry is more like lotto
It's the first time I see a F1 simulation with the right speed feeling. Played a couple weeks ago GP3 or GP4 and it was just ridiculous, felt like a XFR

"Have you got any Megadeth?"
I love the F08, but it's hard to find other people to race with.
Same with the BF1. Driving the cars alone and trying to get the most out of them is great fun.

Constantly being plowed into is not so much fun.
I personally think that the FO8 is not too tricky to handle tbh. With the right set, and feel for the car, it's a great car to drive.

P.S. For those of you who believe that the FO8 will bite your head off if you don't be smooth and careful, here's a lap at Fern Bay Gold, with no regard for throttle control or any smoothness at all for that matter. Actually I admit I did lose it at the end of the replay, but that's only due to my scorched tyres. Oh and the fact that I was determined not lift off the throttle.

Quote from George Kuyumji :It sounds like your issue is oversteer when exiting the corner.

Gearing Ratios can solve this. The cars quaracter is not set in stone. You can set it up to meet your likings and your driving style. If you have a more aggressive driving style, you need a car that is stable and that gives you confidence in the middle of the corner to smash the throttle and not spin out.

You can drive aggresively and smash the throttle in the F08, but you cant do so if your Gearbox allows wheel spin exiting the corner. It's a Setup issue to have a car that allows for aggressive driving. You need to setup the car to that way that you dont have to be concerned about wheel spin when your in the corner.
If the car is setted up to meet your likings than you do not have to worry about stability, and you can concentrate on attacking the track.

You may also want to raise the rear Wing.

Very good explanation, thanks for the tips. I'll give up on the default set and try a different one.

They are super-fast and super-kool, just it's beyond the reasonable limit of an average sim-racer from what I've seen to actually handle a properly simulated f1 car. No point in racing really if most of the competitors can't keep it on track for more than a lap. (Traction control only helps so much when you're just not used to having to respond that quickly.) At some points in the f1 car I find I can't actually count my gears down in my head because I have to downshift so fast. So instead I'll remember how many gears I need to downshift for each heavy braking corner and just hit downshift that many times because that little bit of difference in how I'm considering the shifting in my head matters.
its bad for keyboard and mouse players and it does a FAT burnout at the start and when it gets at low speeds even with lots of downforce
Ethan, welcome to the Official LFS forum !

You're familiar with the FO8? Perhaps you might like to log in with your LFS username then

Sincerely,
Captain Tact
its obvious i can do a burnout with the demo cars
