Backwards is a config
Quote from Gunn :The chicane works great in the reversed direction. I hope it is never changed.

I didn't say change it, I said that if we get another Blackwood configuration, I would like the chicane to not be a part of it. It just seems like it would be a good opportunity to see what that section is like without the chicane, which is fun to drive through, for sure, but I just like the idea of that long straight leading directly to the tight left hander, in the reverse config, with a gentle slope in the braking area (from a racing point of view).

Apart from the chicane Blackwood is a great track. Very flowing and perfectly suited for fast cars. I'd love to see a longer version of Blackwood that extends the track into the 2-3 minutes area. LFS's Spa. Medium to high speed corners, very technical corners, difficult without being slow.

Vain, exactly how i feel!! .
Blackwood GT and Blackwood International are both absolutely brilliant designs. I REALLY wish the developers would actually make those 2 versions of Blackwood. Fast yet technical, exactly what a real dedicated racetrack should be. That switchback at the end of the 2nd major straight of Blacwood International would be an exhileraing echnical challenge.

Those 2 designs are:
(a) Long and fast enough for the REAL race cars (GTRs, FV8, BF1)
(b) Technical enough to eliminae boredom.

I did another one. Now rather a medium paced configuration that is more technical. Yet no excessively low speed corners apart from the hairpin. Working title Blackwood East.
The end of the former straight should still be an overtaking opportunity. Drafting during the long left hander should yield good good results.
This also goes for the short straigh before the hairpin in the reversed direction.

But removing the long straight comes at the price of some remodelling. The highway on the left near sector time on needs to get lower so the new track can cross it and the wall on the left near the end of the BW straight needs a tunnel in it.

Loving them figs too! you do realise if these configs were made, they would be in s3 as blackwood would need to be redesigned in parts. People are saying why waste your time with new configs when you can get new tracks, but what if the new blackwood configs were better then the new tracks, whats the point in having 1 thing, when we have another thats better anyway? :P.
hyperactive and Vain, very nice suggestions!!

Nice one But I'd like to see more passing opportunities. But I love the idea of the tunnel!

I didn't change the amount of passing oportunities per lap. There's still the start/finish where you can pass, the short straight near the former sectortime 2 and the both ends of the former straight should still be overtaking-possibilities (one per direction, south end for std, hairpin end for reversed). In standard configuration the second turn of the east-section (the medium left after the long left) might also allow some passes. Similarly in reversed configuration the short straight after the long righthander into the east-section might allow you to squeeze yourself aside your opponent before the following left kink.
But personally I like tracks where you have one or two passing possibilities per lap and everywhere else you need an error by the one before you.
I guess 4 passing possibilities are enough for a 2:30 lap.
(Start/finish, entrance to east-section, exit of east-section, former sectortime 2)

Funny, the track with passing opportunities is Aston National (you can basicly pass everywhere there), but everyone finds that boring.
bumpification needed, but this is worthy of a +1
