At the mo' I'm stuck with a cheapy argos 'computer chair'. it's uncomfortable, it moves about and creaks alot and has nasty 'armrests' that do nothing but leave big bruises on you're legs (!?)

I've got a couple of nasty brown seats from an old skoda but they smell funny. although they would be more comfortable. If the next GP is any longer than the last I'm gonna have to invest some serious time down the shed welding up a new seat base.
I own a cheap Argos chair too, over the last 3 years it has really screwed my back to a point i get severe back pain just standing up (and i am 21 )

So heres a question, does anyone actually have any seat/chair recommendations? I am looking to buy a new chair as if i dont i will be an invalid by the time i am 25.... something within the £90 range as i dont want to go overboard. And a place where to buy would be nice too

After I'm finished with my summer job I plan to do some excessive racing chair construction: http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=1840

I have 15 years experience of back problems. A chair won't sort out your pain - some lifstyle changes will. Sorry I can't be more help - this forum is not the place.

I'm sitting in some NASTY woven wicker chair thing, here have a picture!

auch MR B .. that certainly does not look confortable....

@Gentlefoot: Yeah changes in life style certainly will help, I have just finished university and i did a computer based degree and my work involved sitting infront of the computer around 10h a day, i even once did 44 hour at the computer in one BIG stint which was just crazy and really messed me up. I have recently starter to do some weightlifting and workign on my lower and upper back, i have also started to be more active, cycling, rowing etc and i have seen improvements....

but anyway, having a nice comfy chair would help....

@Hyperactive: thanks for the link
I use one of 2 chair depending on if anyone is using the nice chair.
If i use a chair like this its about 20 minutes before LFS arse sets in as its about 5 years old and had no padding.
BUT
Also got a chair like this then the problem becomes not LFS arse but falling asleep. Its so comfy lol.
My "LFS Arse" causer!

The original seat cover ripped so I just put a cushion on it...which probably only adds to the problem :smash:

Quote from S0ul :sorry for offtopic, but i just have to say that youre cool^^Why?Because of your Avatar:Stromberg rocks them all!

Indeed.

On topic: Ass hurts here, too.
I know a cure, i play badminton most weekends. Its probably the best work out you can get because you use every muscle (calm down gag not that one)
maybe the devs could cut a deal with ikea, so we get a free comfy chair when you buy s2. and in return we could advertsie ikea by racing with an ikea skin. (spot the contradiction )
I should look into registering or some sort of validation for this so that it's a recognised condition and in some thick medical journal, then I can put, Gareth Nash - Discoverer of "LFS Arse" after my name or even on my tomb stone, something like that.

I would go with reuban's idea as you can do a 1 - 2 hour car journey no probs/pains but your computer chair is to uncomfortable so all you need is the base off an old chair & an old car seat prefferably out of a big comfortable car. (my pug 405 ones are great plus they have electric adjustment for extra lazyness)

should save you a few quid too

edit: heck give me 50quid & I will make u one!

I have one of those. Although its very comfy, and very nice to sit in generally, if you use it for every day computer work you will notice one problem if you're a bloke. You can't stretch your legs out side ways to give your crotch enough airing that evolution has decided we need, because of the "lips" each side.

If I had the choice again, and the money, I'd be going for a Herman Miller Aeron instead (but then I do work from home and spend a lot of time in front of the computer).
I use a seat from a ford transit. Gas damped and a lot of adjustment possibilities. (It sure isn`t a racing seat !!)

After many hours of driving, I must admit, that I can feel the part ending just after my back

But my shoulders and neck hurts too, and my fingers can`t open them selves - LOL !

Why do human love to hurt themselves in such a way ? I don`t know, but mostly I don`t feel the pain, when I`m racing well - If I don`t race well, you feel the pain more intensely

Because we're all cheap and we want everything for free.

I think we'll just put up with the pain instead of paying over OUR money.
I just use a plastic folding cafe chair with a fat cushion on it. I do get a bit saddle sore sometimes but only after very length sessions - usually it's the shoulders which ache most due to the unpadded back rest. Although in LFS, getting through 40 laps without getting smashed into a wall by some g00n and then getting up to jump up and down in rage is very rare, so I get plenty of exercise

I also ride my BMX through the city to work every day (and home is halfway up a steep hill), so I have a beautiful muscly arse to sit on
I no longer get LFS Arse (though I used to) as I stole my mums cussion, it has a hole cut in it for my tailbone to stick through, which takes pressure off the spin, so I can sit at my desk for hours on end and not get any problems. Before this cussion I couldn't sit down for over 30 minutes without getting LFS Arse.
I got one of those cheap argos ones too!!! Was 15 quid about 5 years ago and now i've got a pillow on it and still get "LFS Arse"

I'm gunna have to get a new one because it's seriously uncomfy and after moving house I lost all the bolts so I had to put a couple of huge screws in it so it holds it in place (Put it in to far to start with and it gradually works it's way into my ass, now that's uncomfy!

I need to get back into Argoos's house to see what new cheap chairs he has, or if I find an old sports ish car i'll rip the bucket seat out of that, been to put it on something though as it would be to low.
Quote from garph :After being struck down with "LFS Arse" (a pain in the buttocks after long periods of the same seated driving position on crappy office chairs) on quite a few occasions now I was wondering how many other sufferers there are out there and possible relief solutions.

The condition normally strikes me down after about 40 laps and only gets worse and worse, ending up in loss of concentration and then a crash.

Stand up and be counted my LFS brothers, not longer should be cower ashamed in the dark!

I myself have an office chair, but I don't suffer from LFS (or any other game for that matter) Arse at all, and it's in crap condition. Odd, no?

you suffer from "iron arse" then.

If that's an "Iron Arse" then I have a "Chuck Norris Arse" - my seat feels uncomfortable when I sit on it for a 60 lapper!
Actually that's true. I did several 60 Lap GPs and some other endu-racing but the only thing that is affected is my seat. The stuffing get's flat and the leather folds and then breakes after a while. But I do fine!

I usually get "LFS Arse" from the missus. When she's waiting upstairs and I'm playing LFS.

I get "LFS arm" from pushing the joystick forward in a long race. The last few laps of long races are usually complete agony.
