That is specifically for the wsp servers. Microsoft use to have a master server called the gamezone or something, but it's been shut down since FSX.

It would be cool to fly with ya, XC. I think I'm on a bit of a break from LFS and I'm gonna fly more. At least this month I'm gonna try to complete the tour from south pole to north pole. I was just flying, and funny thing is, someone asked a silly question, do I know of any good racing sims, LOL. He got an earful (or a chatful ). Posted up some links to some very nice DoN vids for him.

So, if you try that out, I'll be on the "Pole-Pole" server on port 23458.
Well I found out how to connect through my dad's computer, he and his buds are flying, we're now heading towards Rome Italy, we started at the northwest most place of Italy, and thats where we are heading now, we went down the cost and now heading straight inland.

The strange thing though is he's the only person that can see me, I can see everyone else, but only my dad can see me.. its kinda strange.

I'll take a look at that and play online with you sometime though.
can som1 explain me how to get online with FS02? cause u use those programms and tut's but i dont get it
Quote from Crashgate3 :If you want to play FS online, try Vatsim (mainly US) or IVAO (mainly Europe). These are a series of connected servers manned by real prople providing air traffic control and lets you fly in an environment as close to real-life flying as you can get on a PC.

Sorry for bumping an old thread like this, but I don't want anyone getting wrong information. VATSIM is not mainly for US and IVAO mainly for Europe. VATSIM is mainly for more advanced simmers and IVAO for beginner simmers.

Here are the top 25 CENTER ARTCC/FIR's Week 17 2007, America has some more in the top, but Europe has many controllers, who are only online, say 2 hours a week.

Bah.. those look like boring airports. What you need to do is go around finding small airstrips that are out in the middle of nowhere and fly to, then it's fun to go sightseeing, rather than go into a city and then land at the largest airport provided.
May I correct you that these are not airports but ARTCC's and FIRs. (Areas, if you noticed, I chose the week where Estonia was first ) I'm sure you can find some challenging airports from those areas. The main problem of both VATSIM and IVAO is that most advanced simmers fly these big metal things - Boeings and Airbuses. I'm not one of them, my favorite airplane is teh De Havilland Canada 2 Beaver Taildragger from 1948.

not really, if you do the complete SID/STAR and fly the exact approach with a good controller, it is extremely fun (if you are into procedure simming that is). although you will find 7 to 8 hours suddenly disappeared from your day!!

half of my time is spend on small jets(PSS A318 and PMDG 737 mostly), another half I usually fly some props into challenging airports, like a DC3 into aspen using nothing but VOR.

As is where I fly. If they (those on the server) want to fly as a group, they are always in the heavies. I prefer the smaller lower flying craft. I'm doing an 1171 stop world tour in a Baron 58TC. I love that little airplane.

I do dabble in the heavies now and then. But I'm not real good with the ILS and approach in those. And, FS9 looks all the same (repeating textures) at FL030. I prefer no more than 5000 ft AGL.
I just realized I can put FSX on here since it has a DVD player.. sweet.

@JJ and rodgers, that brings up a point I've never really understood, my dad flies the DC3 all the time (modded of course so it has a new panel and autopilot etc.) but I hate planes like that, where is all of the fun? I need to see if I can get an RV6, those are cool little planes, fast too.

for me first of all I like props, and these props with these huge engine has this wonderful texture to them, the noise and all. Secondary it's a rather heavy plane which is also quite good to fly manually, I love the sense of weight, I love the fact that a huge amount of force is fighting each other when taking off and landing, and to fly them precisely is very satisfying for me. also these period plane don't have modern do it all autopilot - they have primitive heading hold and pitch hold function, so there's more going on then in an modern aircraft, actually I try to fly the DC3 by hand as much as possible, the MAMM DC3 that I fly tracks heading using mainly the rudder and I don't like it, I do the turns and only turn AP on when it's perfectly set.

I love smaller GA aircraft as well, carendo piper and the diamond katana are the best, I do low level VFR with them as well, especially in terrible coditions! with rain and all that, however sometimes I think they are a bit tooo tidied up, and lack the raw feeling of a good old DC3 or Connie (speaking of which we really need some high quality payware connie!)

I fly russian planes from simdim too, problem is if I stop flying them for a week I need to re-read the manual all over again. But they are fun, and cool in a weird way.

May I recommend you Realair products (www.realairsimulations.com) and the DHC Beaver (From the same place as diamond katana)

The planes from realair really are the best modelled props (altough I'd like to see them model some different props) - Gorgeos panel (3D Gauges in FSX) and good flight dynamics (realistic side slipping and spinning)

These planes are modelled realy well, but I don't know if they're your cup of tea.
Quote from JJ72 :...I do low level VFR with them as well, especially in terrible coditions! with rain and all that...

Isn't that kind of impossible to do? LOL
Well, it's quite possible, for a VFR flight the visibility needs to be at least 5 kilometers (1.5 kilometers for a Special VFR flight - military stuff) and the clouds need to be higher than 1500 feet (450 meters). Different conditions are active at night.
At last something I know about .
Am I right that FSX uses the same basic engine as FS9 (and FS8 and 7)?

In my activ time I was on a Flightsim forum and everyone griped about the FS2004 using the same (slow) engine from the FS2002. I still have a 10GB instalation on my harddrive.
i have fsx.... maybe someone should open an lfs-FSX server... so we can fly with lfsracers that would be fun
