what needs to be done to adjust the setup so a keyboarder can play this car better.

You could try playing with LSD settings.
Set the power-on lock to minimum and you will notice that the wheels don't spin so aggressively.

doesn't most of setups with this car use Locked Diff?
i'll try your tip and let you know the results (later at night)

locked diff is (usually,not always) faster, so ure right.
but with unlocked diff its way easier to drive.
