FPS Problems of the reverse kind, Wheel issue?
Hi everyone!

I just bought myself a Logitech wheel the other day (cheapest model they have), and bought the S2 Full version. Now when I'm driving, everything runs at double speed but the FPS is only half of what it used to be. I used to stay steadily on 80-90 FPS in the demo, but now I'm only at 40-50 FPS.

Now the strange thing is that this doesn't make sense at all. If im running at half the FPS , the game should be half as fast as it used to be, no? illepall

It almost seems as the game drops half the frames, and thus, runs at twice the physical speed. When I play the replays, the FPS is normal again and everything runs smoothly. I've tried "everything" , that is - new drivers for the GFX, new drivers for the wheel, f*cked with all the settings in the game, reinstalled everything but the exe-file for LFS and so on and so forth.

Any ideas what this might be? Any solutions at all?

Oh btw; my system:
-MSI K8N Neo2 mobo
-AMD64 3000+ Winchester
-2x512MB PC3200 DDR RAM
-Gainward FX5900XT AGP
Is VSync on now by any chance?
I've tried with Vsync both on and off, makes no difference I'm afraid. Besides, that would've affected both driving and replay, this only affects the driving.

Seems like when I disconnect my wheel everythings fine tho, so I think it's safe to say where the problem lies. But why? I just need to get to the bottom of this... Any suggestions or responses would be MUCH appreciated.

That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard. Does it do this both offline and online?

Oh, duh - didn't notice the replay bit.
I've read of that problem before on this forums several times, do a search.

And all my thanks goes to you today.

I came, I searched and I found. Seems like the Minimum Sleep Timer was the ONLY thing I DIDN'T screw around with when I tried "everything". Adjusting the minimum sleep upwards helped. Thanks alot, you've just made my weekend.
Your eye will notice differences in FPS from 0-30. Anything beyond 30FPS will look exactly the same (Running smooth). Although some video cards have faults, and with high FPS you may notice the game go into fast forward every now and then. I would recommend you use Vsync. It's possible the game is running the same, and your FPS is lower. Just because your FPS is lower, does not mean your game is running half the speed.

0-29FPS = Lag
30+ = Realtime
I know this, but my point was that when Im getting half the fps the game should SEEM to run slower, as in lagging and such, and not run twice as fast.

And since the Vsync didn't do ANYTHING with the problem, I figured something else was wrong....
