shadow layer
can anyone help. i want to keep the shadows in cars but dont know how.
could you explain how to do this in photoshop, with a easy explanation, as im not too good with tech talk

i also heard that there is a extra layer type thing, that has just shadows on it.
true? could someone post it/them
Alright, first, make the shadows their own layer (ie, don't paint on the layer with the shadows). Make this layer ABOVE all layers with paint/logos on them. Set the layer to 'multiply.'

Hope that helped

ok, what i dont get is how to make the shadows their own layer, can anyone explain that??
What program are you using v4? If it cant do layers, then theres your immediate problem i suspect.
if you have downloaded the templates from somewere chances are they will have there own layer for the dirt, i dont know what prgram you are using but if you are using photoshop click window at the top and click layers then you can select what layer you want to paint on. choose background or colour or paint here orsomething like that, everyone calls them different things.
im using photoshop elements, so i can layers and such, but its just understanding it all
If you open one of the blank / default skins use it as a background layer.

To add a new layer press Control + Shift + N. You can have an almost infinite amount of layers, but what I tend to do is have a new layer for each section or important item because you can move them around independant of the whole image.

To get the best effect for blocks of colour use a multiply overlay as it will let the background image come through (shadows). For decals, a normal overlay is usually fine.

If you need more help, you might want to read this through first:

I'm definately not one of the best either, but I dont expect other people to want to use my skins This way I look at it, as long as I'm happy its good enough

 Glad I could help. If you need anything else I'm sure theres a few more talented photoshopper's that could help
