old ps2 wheel.. can it be done?
as the topic says.. can a old PS2 wheel (broken one at that..) be used on my pc with LFS? it's a looooongshot, but i thought i'd ask if someone could guide me!

first i have to find out wtf is wrong with it.. (stopped working after a relative of mine abused it..) and then i guess i'd have to remove the ps2 connector, and try a usb one instead.. sounds unlikely that this is going to work though!

as i can't afford food right now, and i'm going crazy after trying LFS with a wheel instead of mouse, i thought i'd give the old wheelshit a little hope and faith!
Can't really help you with the wheel itself - I know some PS2 wheels work though.

But I wouldn't try to remove and replace the connector - instead you can pick up convertors from plenty of electronics stores.

Good luck!
If you can't find an adapter, you can always try something more radical.

I'm using one of the pedals of a very old PS1 wheel as a clutch besides the DFP ones. What I did was to take a very old PC joystick, disconnect the wires going to the X axis pot and hook them to the wires coming from the pedal pot (nothing fancy, can't solder without burning my fingers, so I just used duct tape). Now I can connect that joystick and have the pedal working, and an extra axis I can use for a handbrake if I want.

Another solution would be one of those USB interfaces to wire up custom wheels, pedals and buttons, but that will cost you over €30 and I guess cheap wheels can be found for little more.
sell stuff you dont use/need anymore on eBay and buy a new one
i got a USB logitech wheel a few years ago and i'm uising that for LFS. doesn't have a clutch, but has flappy paddles
