How bizarre is this thread. I've still got a lot of work to do on that site writing actually interesting content. Now we're not sprinting anymore (no winter sprints that I can find) we're preparing the car for the new year, where I'll hopefully be racing it in Monoposto 2000 (I say hopefully, no promises - I've got two concerned parents and a bank manager to convince first).
The new engine is progressing already. We've had a fireworks party this evening, so didn't do much today other than take the cylinder head off, but so far the new engine looks like it's brand new (it's out of an MR2 - 178hp standard, but closer to 200hp once it's on carbs etc). So hopefully we don't need to even hone the bores.
The rear wing is a mess, with a fugly gurney flap held on by 10mm AF bolts, and the honeycomb slightly delaminating in places, but it's not something impossible to rebuild.
It's pretty much a case of buying a new set of slicks (or a second hand pair from an F3 team, which will only have a couple of heat cycles on them yet be about £30 a tyre), bolting in the new engine, and going racing. Yippee!
